Marvel almost let Gwenpool erase one of Spider-Man’s most hated stories•aipt

In the 10th article in Venom Unleashed, we explored all the symbiotes, an ongoing column for AIPT, and editor Jordan D. White dropped a particularly wild nugget of Marvel history that we never print.

“At the time I carried out the issues with Gwenpool and Gwen Stacy and Marvel Legacy,” White revealed. “The pool is spending time going back in time and trying to keep Stacey from sleeping with Norman Osborne.”

Yes, that Norman Osborne storyline. What exploded with the 2004 Spider-Man release: J. The crimes by Michael Strakinski and Mike De Dedato Jr. have been revealed that Gwen Stacey has a secret relationship with the Green Goblin himself and has given birth to twins. Letocon has sparked anger from many fans, citing the storyline as Gwen’s character and an unnecessary, marked twist.

Marvel has renewed the revelation. Most recently, and when he learns that Norman hadn’t slept with Gwen, he’s been crucially silent in Nick Spencer’s incredible Spider-Man #73.

White’s unused Gwenpool pitch turned scandalous letcon over his mind and reconstructed it through Gwenpool’s meta humor and time travel chaos.

This concept would have seen Gwenpur, known for her reality-bending consciousness and attitude that breaks the fourth wall. It’s a profane, sincere, and perhaps hilarious attempt to take the Marvel Cannon into the course through pure will (and perhaps a katana or two).

This issue never happened, but White’s anecdote gives fans a glimpse of Marvel creators internally tackling the legacy of past crimes. And in classic Gwenpool fashion, it could have been the perfect way to get that storyline to rest forever, with humor, chaos and a bit of cathartic violence.
