Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in collaboration with Universal Products and Experience, has revealed a striking new series of pulp-style variant covers for the upcoming horror comic Universal Monster: The Invisible Man. The fourth issue limited series, released in August 2025, comes from Eisner-winning author James Tinion IV (something kills a child, kills an exquisite corpse), acclaimed artist Dani (low, low, low forest), and colorist Brad Simpson (the amazing Spider-Man).
Aja’s pays homage to the classic Universal Pictures films that influenced the series, blending the aesthetics of vintage pulp with his signature noir flare. Each cover acts as a 1:10 incentive variant (cover C) for all four issues.
The story explores the horrifying origins of Jack Griffin, whom science felt constantly invisible until it became literal. When he descends into insanity and abandons the final traces of his humanity, a monster is born – an invisible man.
Issue #1 also features the main covers of Dani and Simpson, the first part of AJA’s connecting cover series, as well as variations from top talent such as Joshua Middleton, Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, Alex Ross, Christian Ward, and Blank Sketch Edition.
This marks the fifth entry in Skybound and Universal’s monster line, following Dracula, Black Lagoon Live creatures, Frankenstein and Mummy. The main comic talent and legendary monsters of more limited series pairings have already developed the work.
Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man #1 will attack comic shops and digital platforms (Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play) on August 27, 2025 for $4.99. Cover codes and ordering information for AJA variants are listed below.
