At Robert Kirkman Live at the SDCC Panel on Thursday, the creators announced the return of the long-print series Cape from Skybound/Image Comics.

Co-created and illustrated by Mark Englert, the invincible series debuted as a special remaster in November, featuring new art and dialogue from the original creative team. This incarnation marks the first reprint since the series was released 20 years ago, offering a new horn in the invincible universe, especially for those on board after watching the popular Prime Video series.

Kirkman continued to please his fans with his next announcement. The all-new Cape Story will debut alongside artist Englert with author Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve). “From 2026, this Cape revival promises to bring fans even deeper into the undiscovered parts of the invincible universe.”

“There’s so much excitement surrounding everything that is related to invincibility, we knew we had to bring the cape back to print!” shouted the characteristically enthusiastic Kirkman. “It was so much fun to revisit the original issue. We knew we couldn’t stop there. I love these characters and introducing the world to Bolt, Kid Thor and Knockout in Invincible Season 3 was a thrill.

“I was very excited when Robert contacted me from the blue and asked if he wanted to recruit the Cape,” Englert said. “I didn’t expect to feel very therapeutic to monitor old pages, and I almost coach my younger self to rival the rest of the amazing books in the Skybound Library.

bolt! Kid Thor! knock out! Captain Cosmic! Claire Boyant! Big brain! Commander’s capitalism! Welcome to Cape Ink, the employer of your favorite superheroes protecting New York City – at least when they’re on the watch, they’re in the crosshairs of machine heads, Titans and more, and now they’re in the crosshairs of enemies that you don’t expect!

“It was a real thrill to be back in the invincible universe. “While invincible fans may wonder about Allen’s aliens and the off-panel adventures of the immortal Allen, it’s a real eccentric to wonder what Battery Bill and Brainboy are doing during the Bill Turmite Wars.
