Abrams Comicarts confirmed the extension of Marvel Arts’ graphic novels at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Otherwise, it started almost seven years ago when Byrne returned to the X-Men, the franchise that helped Byrne launch Stardom with Chris Claremont and Terry Austin.
X-men else is written by Byrne, stuffed by Byrne and Paul Wills, in pencil, colored by Robern Kinzierski and Leonard O’Grady, and written by Byrne and Patrick Brosso. The story explores what happened after Jungley sacrificed herself at the end of “The Dark Phoenix Saga” and survived in a very different way. This completely changes not just the X Team, but the entire Marvel Universe.
“They say you can’t go home again,” Byrne said. “They’re wrong.”
X-Men Else Thin, Vol. 1 will see you return to Earth with a storyline featuring Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, The Avengers, Sentinel and other fan favorites.
“John Byrne has done something truly unique here,” said X-Men Elsewhen series editor Chris Ryall. “He not only reminded me of why Byrne’s past works on these characters are loved and influential, but also of presenting a whole new, relevant story that will captivate new X-Men fans, but also created an entirely new X-Men adventure.”

When X-Men Else joins the title of Abrams Comicarts’ Marvel Arts Line, including Alex Ross’ Fantastic Four: Full Circle. Chip Kid and Michael Chose the Avengers: Truthful Travel. Patrick McDonnell’s “Superheroes Journey.” The first volume was released in April 2026, followed by volumes debuting in fall 2026 and spring 2027.
