Welcome to another edition of Fantastic Five. This week was another Banner Week for DC, with three books in the top five. Let’s go to the book!

The Week’s Best Comics: July 23, 2025

#5: The voice said Kill #1

“The Voice Said Said Kill”

The gritty and heartfelt “The Voice Said Kill” begins a new, more fatal kind of crime story about emotional responses and setting up villains and bad deeds.

#4: Absolute Wonder Woman #10

“Absolute Wonder Woman” #10 is the interpretation we need

Absolute Wonder Woman #10 is a great problem. Minor issues aside, this continues to be a powerful series and honestly you can read my favorite absolute titles. As a reader, it’s a fun and crazy ride. As a reviewer, I have to praise the series as a love letter to Wonder Woman and the superhero comics in general. I can’t wait any longer.

#3: Absolute Mars Manhunter #5

“Absolute Mars Manhunter” #5 walks the dark side

Absolute Martian Manhunter #5 continues to balance being totally quirky and totally profound with offering great revelation in the process. Readers will immediately scramble for the next issue, wondering, “Is it hell for them to put this on top?”

#2: Storm #10

“Storm” #10 launches a lightning war with deafening strength

Storm by Murewa Ayodele has become the definitive solo run of one of Marvel Comics’ most prominent black female superheroes and continues to be an exceptional title in the new “Ash” lineup of X-Men titles.

#1: Justice League Unlimited #9

“Justice League Unlimited” #9 is the right epilogue

Justice League Unlimited #9 is a fitting epilogue for “We Are Towary,” which feels like calm before the storm, and not to mention a return to form for the finest sensibility of the creative team who made this series when it began, the harsher narrative allows for meditation at previous events and returns to the series’ main story in a growing, painless way of packed crossovers. The battle against the Legion of Doom is taking place, but the universe is still not safe from Omega Energy, and this new league is not seriously prepared again. And with the flagship regaining momentum, everything regaining momentum, there is no doubt that the future is lined with time travel fun and new threats on the horizon.
