“Hush 2” continues this week with Batman #161. We are away from whopper on cliffhanger. Damian and Bane are working together! It’s certainly a surprise as it was made to see Damian kill Alfred in front of him. After overcoming that shock, Batman has to save Damian from Hash, who has a knife in his throat. It’s a fierce opening as the series begins to delve deeper into the mystery.
Batman #161 begins with a four-panel layout of Batman playing against Hash, who holds a knife in Damien’s throat. Hush speaks a lot, but doesn’t expect Damian, who has the wildcards of weapons that come straight out of Batman. It’s like an interesting wrinkle that connects to Talia, who gives her son’s weapon to survive this latest war. This is not the strangest element in this issue, but it will be a period of strong friendship in Bane, which will help streamline Damian’s choices.
I’ve seen this trick before.

Again, Jim Lee is the star of this show, with plenty of incredible full-page spreads, iconic shots of Batman reminiscent of his previous era, and dynamic shots on the streets of the city. The visuals look great when the action kicks into gear or when Batman does his detective work in a secret hideaway. every time.
As for the ongoing mystery of why Hush is back, there is nothing new to build on the clues that came before. There are a few new targets to keep in mind, but I don’t know if they are red herrings or not. However, there are some interesting new wrinkles, including Batgirl. She is pissed that Batman has stripped off the Joker and removed that frustration for Batman. Her clever to save him, but let him take some hits, and she also has an interesting secret technique that is clever to her sleeves. It’s great to see Loeb and Lee playing with Canon for years. When Part 1 comes close, it’s safe to say we only have tiny things to continue.
However, while reading this book, a few things bothered me. First of all, Batman needs to be rescued multiple times, which is very strange. For those who are always ready, he gets too close to death in one night. The other is Barbara. He’s no surprise to be angry at Batman for spareing the Joker, but it seems he’s succumbing to hell to kill the Joker. The group’s murders are stopped in the queue, but I think Joker is exploring her rage over shooting her.
Batman #161 offers a tense continuation of classic visuals and hash sequels, but the decisions of some questionable characters and limited plot development hamper it from greatness.
