It’s hard to believe that White Tiger, a groundbreaking character created by Bill Mantoro and George Perez, made his debut on Kung Fu’s Deadly Hand Page 50 years ago. The first Latin American protagonists of American comics and Marvel’s first Hispanic characters, they appeared in various incarnations and various Marvel media throughout that period. Later this year, Marvel will publish one shot of White Tiger Reborn, which sees two stories, rather than one, featuring two incarnations of this iconic character. Authors Daniel Jose Old and Cynthia Perayo and artists Bruno Abydas and Mois Hidalgo will be creative in this book, celebrating the month of Hispanic and Latin American heritage. See the variant cover below and details

Marvel Comics celebrates this year’s month of Hispanic and Latin American heritage, Marvel’s Voice Comnidad special, the first Latin superhero from Marvel Comics White Tiger Reborn #1. Oneshot features superstar writer Daniel Jose Old’s storyline and rising star artist Bruno Abdias and Bram Stalker Award winner Cynthia Pelayo and acclaimed artist Moises Hidalgo, featuring two fascinating stories, featuring both Abdias and Pelayo’s exciting Marvel comic debuts.

The special reveals an unprecedented moment in the history of the original White Tiger Hector Ayala, and regains the current white tiger Ava Ayala, reconnects with the Tiger God and makes the mantle his own. Additionally, the October issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Incredible Hulk features a team-up variant cover of the white tiger by iconic artist J. Gonzo, each introducing one of the three bearers of the white tiger mantle along with the nominal star of the series.

Ava Ayala is the current equipment of White Tiger Power, with the talisman of power that inspires the host with a connection between the power of the host and the martial arts prowess. When Ava returns to her old stomping ground to protect the innocent, she is caught up in a mystery that forces ava to tie the murder and history of her family to the white tiger mantle – ava confronts her dead brother, her dead brother, and the original white tiger.

“It’s always a profound honor for Bill Mantoro and George Perez to carry on the legacy that began many years ago, but this story feels particularly special as it marks a major turning point in the decades of Saga of White Tiger.”

“As a Puerto Rican author, it’s an honor to make my Marvel comic debut with the White Tiger,” Perayo said. “I am grateful to be part of the new audience experience and learn about the legacy of Puerto Ricans, the oldest and superheroes of the first Latin American and American comics history.”
