Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Oni Press announced that Yuletide, the upcoming horroring holiday adventure comic, has already been snatched away for the film adaptation. Valhalla Entertainment, the production company behind The Walking Dead, acquired the rights to the series prior to its comic debut in October.

Yuletide is the brainchild of writer George Nordie (Charm Med, EC trembling suspension) and artist Raychele Alanho (Leonido the Vampire), and promises a fast-paced mix of Goonies, Goosebumps and Hocos Pocus, wrapped in ancient folk tales and the horrors of holidays. Naughty will write the film and co-produce it with Valhalla’s Gale Ann Heard and Philip Kobilanski, Oni’s David Steward II, Hunter Gollinson and Jeremy Colfer.

Set at Christmas in Pennsylvania, a town that is obsessed with holiday cheers, Yuletide follows three teenagers who are more interested in the season’s eerie roots than the sparkling light. When they uncovered a mysterious artifact at a local Christmas museum, they unleashed accidentally forgotten winter monsters and centuries of darkness. Only they hold the key to stop it.

Naughty describes the story as a personal “devil” photor that restrains during the holidays, calling it a story about facing it head-on rather than filling it. Heard praised the project for its rich use of global folklore and its ability to revive lesser known legends that are less appealing and disappear into ambiguity.

Hunter Golinson, the press president of Oni, called Yuletide “a happy fill of heart, humor and adventure,” suggesting it could become a holiday favorite for years to come.

The comic itself arrives as a three-part miniseries, with a very sized 40-page issue released in October, closing in time for the December holiday.

Yuletide has participated in impressive adaptations slates from Oni’s libraries, including Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Extraction and Atomic Blonde. ONI will share more about the Comic-Con International series at Booth #1829 starting July 23rd.
