Dynamite Entertainment brings back Thunderbolt’s Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt, and this November, will return to a brand new action-packed series by author Fred van Lente (the incredible Hercules, Marvel Zombies) and artist Jonathan Lau (Space Ghost). The series is a fresh, retelling of Canon’s origins, combining mysticism, martial arts and heart-bending powers. It’s been about five years since the final series by Kieron Gillen and Caspar Wijngaard was released in collectible format.
Peter Cannon, the last survivor of the secret order of the heart-developed mystics, must face a deadly enemy. Not only did he destroy the order, including Cannon’s own parents, he now hunts him in the heart of an elite circle in New York. But this is not the same as Peter Cannon they remember. Known as the lightning bolt of the awakened, cannons can bend time and cheate death in one strike. He is a living Thunderbolt.
Opposing the modern world of cult, chaos and intrigue, the series splits into Canon’s traumatic past, mixing “awakening,” the beliefs of a new era with brutal discipline, and is now long destroyed in a deadly fire. Along the way, Peter reunites with Allietab, confronts his rival cults and mercenaries, confronts his limits, to prove whether he is truly mastering his body and mind, or whether death still has numbers.
