Magnetic Press has announced the launch of its first ever English-language Kickstarter campaign, as the five-volume graphic novel series, Ogrest: The Storm Befory The Tears and The Beat have all the details. Ogrest is the first part of the official graphic novel of the French studio Ankama’s multimedia Wakfu franchise. This includes the free-to-play Dofus and Wakfu Tactical RPGS, as well as the Wakfu Netflix Animated Series.

Written and depicted by David “Mig” Laurent, Ogrest is a dark fantasy epic that invades some of the universe’s most iconic characters, offering deep and engaging storytelling for older and newer fans. According to the press release, this is the complete overview.

In the ancient times of Dofas hidden on a quiet island, Ogrest knows only peace. His beloved, the sacred doll Datura, a mysteriously disappearing powerful artifact known as the primitive dofus, is stolen. In a desperate attempt to bring her back, Ogrest embarks on a dangerous journey to recover the rest of the Dofus, hoping to give him the hope of becoming a human in Datura.

However, it begins as a mission of love spiral obsession. As God’s plot and political competition unfold around him, Ogrest becomes a ship of much greater things: an unidentified power of sorrow and destruction. His grief unleashes the magical flood, which ends the era, recreates the world in the age of Wakhu and pioneers it.

The Magnetic Press Kickstarter campaign features a limited edition box set that collects all five black and white 6×9″ softcover volumes (pages 192-240 each) in slip cases with spot UV, metallic foil and print liners. In addition to the complete Ogrest series, each set includes:

Collector’s Book Plate Kickstarter Registration Package with Exclusive PVC Keychain Number

Backers receive points of magnetic ambassador equal to the pledge value that can be redeemed in the Magnetic Press web store, and can customize the pledge with add-ons including the digital version of Wakfu Season 4, a bilingual deep dive that delves deep into the latest seasons of Netflix series storytelling, design and animation. Stretch goals include pins, stickers and more.

OGREST: The storm before tears begins on Kickstarter on July 15th and runs until August 1st. Pre-register here to receive an alert when bonus rewards and campaigns are published.
