Since starting to report on digital comics for Beat over the past few weeks, I’ve learned one thing: GlobalComix Rocks. Last week they announced they would add an entire IDW library (it’s open today!), and for the week before that, Archie Comics was hoping on. Add it to an already stacked lineup featuring DC comics, vaults and dark horses and there are over 100,000 comics in one place.

True Industry First is now available on GlobalComix the day a new release of IDW Publishing hits comic bookstores. This is the first time that a major American publisher has provided digital date and date access to subscription services.

GlobalComix is already a big deal and is now even better. In addition to this announcement, there will be major updates to GlobalComix Gold’s pricing, making access more affordable than ever. Premium memberships cost $6.99 per month (from $7.99 on the web, $9.99 in-app), or $69 per year (reduced from $89.99 on the web, $109.99 in-app). what. A.Trading.

Starting today, GlobalComix Gold members can read 176 titles from IDW, including beloved franchises such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic The Hedgehog, Star Trek, Godzilla, and My Little Pony. Large content drops include single issues, volumes, and transactions, with all future IDW releases participating in the service day and day and date.

“This is more than a price drop. It’s a commitment to making world-class comics accessible to everyone,” Christopher Carter, CEO and co-founder of GlobalComix, said in a statement. “Now, with the release of the date from IDW, it’s now a part of money, so it’s changing the meaning of being a member. Not only is readers gaining incredible value. They’re taking part in a move to rethink how comics are experienced in the digital age.”

Beyond the subscription model, daily IDW titles can also be used to purchase single book, including 12 titles from publisher’s highly acclaimed top shelf production imprints.

A new addition to GlobalComix marks another victory in digital comics. And this new collaboration with IDW, combined with the immediate availability of new releases and lower subscription prices, will set a new high for GlobalComix. Now I wonder how they’ll probably top this?

With today’s move, fans of IDW’s biggest franchise can jump on a new issue with GlobalComix Gold the moment it’s released in the store. Everything is under the price of a single physical comic.
