Princess Tinaria of Lidea has loved Prince Keithfalt of Bardin ever since they were children. They share an unfortunate past. Tina was inadequately treated as an illegal daughter and was taking him hostage as a prisoner of Lidea while working as a servant to Prince Keith. The two experienced terrible childhoods, isolation, abuse and starvation, but Tina cherished the time when Keith was kind to her and vowed to love him at all times.

Ten years later, after a series of wars and horrifying events weaken the Kingdom of Lidea, Lidea loses Tina as a bride to Prince Keith in a political match. Tina is happy to be reunited with Keith after all these years, but Keith doesn’t remember her and it’s pretty cold for her. They have a wedding, but on the first night, Keith sleeps in bed with Tina on the couch. He informs her that she has another lover. Then Tina moves to another location in the castle in the morning.

Thus, a chilly relationship begins between a devoted wife and her husband, who views her as a threat to his kingdom. Will Keith ever respond in turn when he sees Tina’s love for him? Is Tina ever considered a wolf in sheep’s clothes?

The original premise of this manga is simple and a bit familiar, like a fairy tale. Long lost love. Pinned. A sorted marriage. War and politics. The title of the manga doesn’t attract punches and you can know exactly what the story will turn out. The whole “unnecessary bride” aspect piqued my curiosity. Because one of the biggest tests of endurance is to continue to love someone even if you are not wanted.

Tina’s memories of Keith’s childhood are very sweet. After all, Keith is the first to show her kindness.

You absolutely can understand where Tina came from. I had not grown my self-worth, so the first boy who showed kindness to me didn’t even know if he was a good person. I was shocked that the man was kind to me.

So, I sympathize with Tina’s strong feelings, but at the same time, Keith, please make sure you deserve these feelings! Because loving someone with all your heart based on a small but sweet encounter isn’t about making true love. There is a danger there.

However, this is a romance, so it’s hard to believe Keith remains frozen in Tina’s charm. He has already shown interest in her and cannot push his familiarity away when he is with her.

What keeps Keith in mind is his duty as a prince, and the fact that his advisors and companions at the castle repeatedly tell him not to trust Tina. The war with Lidea is already solid evidence that Tina may not be on Bardin’s side, but the Prince’s Palace has schemers doing everything they can to ensure Tina is not happy. There is a character like Kurina, the daughter of the Duke. The Duke’s daughter openly desires after the prince and operates to take him to her side. Both Kurina and Queen are pleased to treat Tina badly and make life difficult for her.

Tina has moments of self-doubt and sympathy, but overall she doesn’t tire her situation. And her desire to be what Keith needs is worthy of praise, whether he returns her love or not. It’s worth reading to see how the relationships between all the characters unfold, and whether Keith’s emotions (and memories!) can awaken.

I enjoy fantasy romance manga, but the unnecessary bride really loves the Crown Prince. As for genres, it’s not something I think I’ll pick up as I usually tend to read it in the form of BL. But the title attracted me. The cartoon is in full color, with the chosen pastels and shades reminiscent of watercolor paintings with blue, purple, pink and delicate lines. These factors make cartoons beautiful for me.

Tina cherishes the flowers Keith gave her as a child, so there are plenty of flower images in the art, but this is also a shorthand for the common themes of Japanese manga. The flowers not only look aesthetically pleasing, but also have a special meaning as well as setting the tone.

This panel is probably my favorite as I think it’s romantic and affectionately described. In this photo, Keith and Tina keep their distance from each other, but there are still moments of sharing. Flowers suggest that their relationship is tenuous and fragile, but foreshadows great love coming.

I enjoyed the time reading that the unwanted bride loves the Crown Prince with all her heart, especially the kick-up of plot and manipulation in the later chapters of the volume. It ends on the cliffhanger. It makes me panick for volume 2. And Tina is a sweet character that you can only hope for good. I want Keith to really understand who he is married to!

If you like the fantastic kingdom, lush artwork, and some serious sweetness and devotional romance, I would recommend loving the Crown Prince with his heart. Some of it reminds me of fairy tale elements like Cinderella and Tattercoat, but this story can convey that it conveys a new spin with some classic romance ratios. I look forward to coming next.

The unwanted bride loves the crown prince. His Heart Volume 1 is available in print and digitally on July 22nd at Tokyopop and will be sold online and in various bookstores. Volume 2 is scheduled to be released on September 16th, 2025.
