Marvel Comics has released a non-letter preview of Captain America #2 featuring 21st century Captain America, David Colton. The character was founded in Captain America #1, which appeared this week.
In Captain America #1, writer Chip Zudarski brings Steve Rogers’ return from the ice to reflect the modern Marvel timeline, leaving him even more “over-hours.” As Zdarsky said, “Avengers (1963) #4… It’s been 18 years since he went into the ice. It’s now 70 years! It’s almost a science fiction story for Steve Rogers. With this change, Zdarsky can explore Steve’s dramatic different America and reassessing the role of a country in the world.
The debut issue also features new character David Colton, “Captain America loses time and returns to life in the world after 9/11.” Zdarsky holds tension between Steve and this new cap. “He’s finally met his hero. They say he’ll never see your hero,” Zudarski says.
