Gehenna Naked Aggression #1 Review

Sometimes you need a story that is all the action, combat, choreography, gunfighting. Image Comics’ new series, Gehenna Naked Aggression, is an action scene that readers will never stop even if they understand what’s going on along the way. Think of John Wick. Our hero is the only babes of Booksom, where a kid who was lured while killing the bodyguard after the bodyguard is dragging.

This is the first visual narrative, turning across the pages as you immerse yourself in free violence and passionate pacing. From the first page, Maurizio Rosenzweig catches his eye in a battle near the 6 panels. Writer Patrick Kintron explains that if the murder takes a little too long, your heart will be killed, and you will be brought down the subject of thinking about why you killed it. Each panel shows a very polished movement, each looking for a gun. This will turn the page into a double page layout, and the enemy will blow your head off. All of this is that the final wide-angle panel shows multiple enemies across the street.

So, the protagonist, Gehenna, runs through the building and onto the roof, launching an action sequence that narrowly escapes death every turn. By her side is the child she is being invited to. She’s the son of a man she really wants to kill, and adds unique dynamics. Gehenna isn’t necessarily a good person, but she is better than the father of her child.

Each panel feels intense!

Rosenzweig’s art is out of this world, with great details, especially in the background. Thanks to the framing and construction, there are moments that are extremely impactful. At the end of page 1, Gehenna has a door between the bad guys and the bad guys peers in. We turn the pages, with three panels, he blows his head off with a shotgun. Gehenna is not playing.

There’s a grindhouse vibe from all B-movies, not only partly because of violence, but also because of how Gehenna and another woman are dressed. Because of the nature of the story and the edgy violence, it works. Certainly, it’s an exploitative touch to put a load of cleavage into leather, but it only respects past films. The blonde detective on her trail has her top virtually open, but that’s almost equal in some way to her gehenna.

Mixed with the action are flashbacks that help explain Gehenna’s actions. These scenes are told in a way that conveys Gehenna’s rage and the need for revenge, and you won’t argue about it.

It is also recommended that you do not skip the words of Araga by Kindlon. That’s because it adds some context to the story and his love for the action comics of his past.

Gehenna: Naked Aggression #1 is a bloody, high octane thrill ride that lives and dies by vision, and is absolutely alive. With Joe Drop Art, tight pacing and raw revenge fueled tones, this debut offers pure action comic bliss, but that grindhouse aesthetic may not be the case for anyone. I think John Wick will meet the faster pussycat kill kill meat.

Non-stop and stylish action with John Wick level choreography and pacing.

Maurizio Rosenzweig’s art is a shortpper, with sharp layout and explosive influences.

The film’s page turns and visual storytelling keep momentum high from start to finish.

Gehenna is a persuasive anti-hero, combining ruthlessness with hints of humanity.

Sexual character designs may feel exploitative by some readers despite the genre homage.
