Alliance Game Distributors currently offer DC Comics

Alliance Game Distributors, a Tabletop/RPG distributor purchased by Universal Distribution, appears to be offering DC Comics, at least as shown in this order form posted by Ryan Higgins of Comics Conspiracy.

The screenshot shows the comic with focus dates in August and sales dates in September/October.

As we report, Montreal-based Universal has been searching for a long time for ways to distribute regular comics in the US. By purchasing the Alliance Game Distributor, they acquired a US warehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Universal and DC have signed distribution agreements since 2022, allowing Canadian retailers to order via DC for a long time.

I’ve heard that Dynamite comics can also be used in the Alliance order form, but I was unable to confirm that. But I would suspect it is only a matter of time.

Absolute Batman #12

Obviously we’re all tired of distributor dramas, but this seems to mark the latest milestone in regular US comics. I’ve heard a lot of good things about universal ordering and shipping procedures. They are extremely efficient and professional organizations, giving retailers more options can encourage the healthy competition that healthy markets need.

Just a few thoughts: Can other small publishers freeze and freeze with diamonds and apply to universal? I think a lot of people are trying when you’re reading this.

Also, according to my quick research, how about Lunar, the only distributor of DC Comics since 2020? In my opinion, I think DC has always wanted a multi-distributor solution. I don’t think this is a moon slap… It’s just a new player who offers options for everyone.

Last Thought: Given all the confusion over the last few months, news reports on Beat and other things have been said many times about how people have learned about their work and business. The universal stealth entering the US market is yet another quiet storm. I know they have personally rolled out plans for retailers and publishers for several months, but unlike other entities who issue press releases every time they sneeze, Universal may also be legal involving it because of bankruptcy or other legal proceedings. As long as they ship books quickly and safely, this may not make a big difference, but it’s great to give someone your overall vision for the market.
