Kirkman and Mora take over Transformers in question #25

Skybound and Image Comics has announced that author Robert Kirkman and artist Dan Mora will become the new creative team for Transformers Comic, which is now available in the October 25th issue of this year. The pair, who will take over the resignation of Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona, will be joined by current series colorists Mike Spicer and Letter Russ Wooton, whose first issue will also feature Kirkman and Corona backups.

Question #25, David Nakayama’s Cover A

The energy universe is not the same as the Autobots and the Decepticons begin their most surprising new chapters in the war on Earth. Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots must join forces with unlikely allies to protect the planets they have adopted. However, Prime’s next challenge is closer to home than he imagined. And what is the destiny of the Decepticons?

Kirkman said, “Holy Smoke, I’m writing Transformers comics! I’ve been investing in this series from the beginning. I was amazed at what Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona brought to some of my favorite characters. Daniel’s run is over. The world is a big part of my life, as far as I can remember.

Mora adds: “I’ve been a huge Transformers fan ever since I remember, so it was really a thrill to ride the series with the equally thrilling Robert Kirkman. I’m a huge fan of Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona, and what they did with this title literally came out of this world. It’s my own spark to their legacy and I can’t wait for fans to see what Robert and I are messing around with next for the universe of energy!”

Skybound’s Energon Universe, which includes the rebooted Trans and Gi Joe titles, was released in 2023 with Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s Void Rivals (which Kirkman continues to write). Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers Run will be making his first six issues with pencil and debuting later that year for critical acclaim, closing the first Eisner Awards (Best Continued Series for Best Writers/Artists) of the beloved toy franchise with issue 24 on September 10, 2024.

Issue #25 will be released on October 8th with many covers, including a pair of blank sketch variants for each featuring Autobot and Decepticon Insignias. You can check out the released cover art, the following textless interior previews, and a complete list of links.
