New York, New York – June 18, 2025 – At IGN, announced earlier today, fans can revisit the Spider-Man: The Animated series. The 5 Islands Limited Series is written by the legendary Spider Script JM DeMatteis and illustrated by Rising Star artist Jimta (X-Force).
Premiered in 1994 and running for five seasons, the Spider-Man: The Animated series is considered to be an adaptation of the most popular animated comic book of all time. The hit series ended with Spider-Man who enters the multiverse to save Mary Jane. Now, almost 30 years later, this cliffhanger will be officially resolved as the Spider-Man ’94 Comic Book series continues its storytelling set after a dramatic final episode. Saga also presents versions of comic book characters from the animated universe that did not appear in the original series.
The hit anime series from the 90s is back!
After searching all the way to the edge of the multiverse, Peter Parker (the amazing, magnificent, radioactive webhead himself) – aka Spider-Man, returns to the city of New York City with the beloved Mary Jane Watson! But what is this? One of these villains is different from the others. This universe debut witnesses Morlan and Kane, the biggest villains of Spider-Man in the comics, not just one! Split the action figures and return to the biggest era of animated superhero television in history and post in front of the TV! For your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, you are never going to move forward, expecting a twist!
“The Spider-Man Animated Series of the 1990s became a beloved part of Spidey’s lore. It was an introduction to Peter Parker and his entire generation of universes. And I’m pleased to be back in that universe,” DeMatteis told IGN. “We treat this as the next season of the show, meaning we present new villains, new challenges, new adventures for Peter.
