See you in court! Dynamite/Diamond Dispute Hearing Date

The controversy between Dynamite Comics/Dynamic Force and New Diamond is intensifying, with a hearing date set to consider Dynamite’s claim that New Diamond owes more than $500,000.

On May 27, Dynamite filed a complaint claiming Diamond was owing $509,114.21 for the comic that it shipped over three weeks.

4/27/25: $58,552.74
5/04/25: $233,931.36
5/11/25: $216,630.11
Total: $509,114.21

The filing included a long list of products Diamond ordered from dynamite. Dynamite also sought attorneys’ fees, late fees and interest for deferred payments and collection efforts.

New Diamond was fired on June 10th and filed a counter request saying this was not the final amount. “In particular, the debtor believes that the alleged amount is exaggerated and does not take into account the debtor’s specific rights,” New Diamond also refused to pay administrative fees under legal technology, and added, “Dynamite has not demonstrated that it will suffer difficulties without immediate payment.”

In other words, it’s on.

Or maybe not. A settlement could be reached prior to the hearing date of July 16th. However, neither of these two parties appears to be the type to give in.

It is important to note that any outstanding invoices are from the period before New Diamond/Sparkle Pop took ownership of Diamond Comic Distributor on May 15th. Old Diamond paid most of its bills after bankruptcy and before its ownership changed. As I’ve heard many times, I don’t pay anyone for new diamonds now.

Dynamite will ultimately remain the final piece of the Diamond Bankruptcy puzzle, and it certainly is quite inexplicable. The conflicts suggested in these filings suggest that there is a behind-the-scenes battle.
