Skybound and Image Comics have reunited the iconic teams from the new Noir series, which will be released this fall. David and Maria Raffam explain that they are dead, working with co-creators Chris Black and David Alpert, who are said to be “an unforgettable story of crime, justice, death and how far a small town goes to keep secrets.” The letter is processed by Dee Kaniff.
Here’s the complete overview:
Emily Bridge has always linked the citizens of Port Lyndon to hope and opportunity. But when one man shocks to burn himself, the bridge now brings something else to the town.
As the town’s chief corporation, sheriff David Calhoun needs to stay one step ahead of the army trying to pull his town away. If he has the opportunity to reveal the truth, he must expose generations of secrets while overtaking death itself.
Each episode of Good As Dead comes in double size, with Laphams’ script, David Lapham’s art and letters, and Cunniffe’s Colors. Check out the preview for Issue #1 to cover the art below.
“I can’t say how excited Maria and I are about to come out,” David Raffam said. “Chris Black and David Alpert provided the original concepts and overviews, and generically provided rooms and commands for “doing our things.” And we went for it. It is what we expect from us based on our work of vanity, and at the same time, unlike anything we’ve done so far, it combines surreal, science fiction, intrigue, horror and of course classic noir.
“Working on this project was a dream opportunity to give every box that shows my passion for storytelling checks,” Black said. “It helps you build a deep, authentic yet deliciously elevated world with the most fascinating and twisted small town thriller traditions, whilst embracing classic crime noirs.
Nachie Marsham, senior editor at Skybound, added: “Dead As Dead is different from what I read before. Rapham created a Noir Masterclass: a character who carries the weight of his face into the linework of his face.
Dead #1 will be available digitally on September 17th at local comic shops.
