Prices for Galaxy’s biggest comic 2000 AD digital subscription – home to Judge Dread, Roguetroopers and more – are likely to be a bit important. This week’s mailer to subscribers announced that the price of digital subscriptions to the weekly program and its monthly sister title, Judge Dreadmegazine, will increase on July 9th.
The email said:
“Dear subscriber,
“I hope this email will find you well. I am truly grateful for your continued support and loyalty for the 2000 ads. As a valued subscriber, I would like to inform you of upcoming changes to the pricing of both the 2000 ads and the judges’ digital subscriptions.
“From July 9, 2025, we will adjust monthly, quarterly and annual subscription prices.”
addition:
“The price of a single digital judge Dredd Megazine subscription will also increase from the Meg 480 (current issue).
“We understand that price changes are never easy and we want to ensure that this decision was made only after careful consideration. Our goal is to continue to provide our readers with the best possible value and we are deeply grateful for your continued readers and support.”
Monthly, quarterly, and annually 2000 ad subscription prices rise around 10% for Britons, while US prices rise around 30%. The price expander for US readers appears to be the current dollar exchange rate against British pound sterling.
Digital Megazine’s monthly subscription price increases by £1 in the UK and $2 in the US, sharing 30% and 50% jumps for quarterly and annual subs (don’t worry, there’s a chart).
Currently, digital subscriptions are the only way international fans of science fiction anthology can keep their stories up to date in the UK. Diamond and Lunar will distribute their printed version of 2000 AD Program Pack directly to the market, but are usually about three months behind.
Digital prices are set to rise from Judge Dread Megazine #480
Advertising in 2000 offers a pretty good deal on the digital side. The program is DRM-free, allowing readers to stay up to date via their chosen comic (or PDF) reader. Subscribers also enjoy a 50% discount on WebShop. This is useful for printing and digital collections of classic stories and digital back issues dating back to 2002. You will also get other special deals directly to your inbox.
Until now, the cost of digital issuance in 2000 was £1.99, with judges weighing megazine £3.99 (cutting to £3.49 on a monthly subscription). It appears that the costs for both are rising, but the email only mentions that Megazine will rise to £4.49 on subscriptions. Both remain significantly less than the printed versions retailed in the UK for £3.80 and £6.99 respectively, and are much more steep when we add US shipping and distribution costs (plus turbulent exchange rates).
