Marvel comics are growing along with the X-Men Age of Apocalypse Alpha, with Jeph Loeb returning and Simone Di Meo winning the arts. On September 3rd, Maduereira was able to say this about the cover.

“I’m excited to be back at this horn in the X-Men universe,” Madirayra said. “When I drew the amazing X-Men, I was literally a kid. It feels like a few times ago. I want to bring something new to these characters on my cover.

So, what is the X-Men in the Apocalypse?

The X-Men of the Apocalypse clashes with the major Marvel universe!

The dystopian future born when Charles Xavier was killed, Age of the Apocalypse is home to the X-Men Wartone Group led by Magneto. To free the earth from the cruel reign of the Apocalypse, they were willing to sacrifice their very existence – or they thought! The main timeline was restored, the apocalypse was defeated, but their world continued to live!

Loeb added, “I met Joe Mad during the original era of the 1995 Apocalypse.”

“His style and storytelling have resulted in an innovative look that is still influential today. When Marvel and I first started talking about this project, we couldn’t ask Joe to make his unique and incredible covers (pencils, inks, colors) into a book. Despite looking down at our friendship/partnership and his role in the design of these characters, he was a huge fan of Simone Di Meo!”

New York, New York – June 5, 2025 – The Apocalypse, a revolutionary 90s X-Men crossover, is a six-part event series by legendary scribe Jeff Loeb, the writer behind the original event, reborn in September this year by Eisner nominated artist Simone Di Meo. Today, Marvel Comics is excited to announce that Joe Madureira, creator of another superstar who made Age of Apocalypse, will bring out variant covers for each issue.

Madireira changed the look of the X-Books throughout the 90s with his distinctive and innovative art style. Now, this highly influential artist returns to the franchise for the first time in decades with the very character he defined: the iconic X-Men of the Apocalypse!

“I’m excited to be back at this horn in the X-Men universe,” Madirayra said. “When I drew the amazing X-Men, I was literally a kid. It feels like a few times ago. I want to bring something new to these characters on my cover.

“I met Joe Mudd during the original era of the 1995 Apocalypse,” Roeb shared.

The X-Men of the Apocalypse clashes with the major Marvel universe!

The dystopian future born when Charles Xavier was killed in a tragic time travel accident, Age of Apocalypse is home to the X-Men Wartorn group led by Magneto. To free the earth from the cruel reign of the Apocalypse, they were willing to sacrifice their very existence – or they thought! The main timeline was restored, the apocalypse was defeated, but their world continued to live!

Taken in the direct aftermath of the explosive finale of the original crossover, the Apocalypse X-Men rekindles this iconic real-life X-Men mission as they travel here to ensure the survival of the universe. This hopeless mission takes them into the main Marvel universe, where they confront their classic counterparts and affect the fate of both teams forever!

Reflecting the first era of the Apocalypse, the X-Men of Revelation kicks off with the X-Men of Revelation Alpha #1, continuing with the X-Men of Revelation #1-4 from November, ending with the X-Men of Revelation Omega #1. Check out Joe Madureira’s variant cover for X-Men in Apocalypse Alpha #1. For more information, please visit marvel.com.
