He is best known for his roles such as Voltron: Legendary Defender or Gambit’s Lotor. In addition to voiceovers, Rocasio has cultivated his supporters by crafting and selling small Halloween sculptures he calls “spoops.” After selling these adorable products online, Rocasio is jumping to Comic Medium with Spoop: The Little Spirits of Halloween, September 2, 2025, a graphic novel for children arriving from Top Shelf Productions in time for Halloween. This child’s graphic novel, drawn by Laurie a Conley, features a little girl obsessed with Halloween, saying, “I’m my most time!”

Here’s how publishers explain graphic novels:

Young Holly Hollowell loves Halloween more than anything, but her dentist’s parents are totally against events promoting tooth-shaking sweets. While the other kids are trick-or-treating, Holly sadly watches through her window…until the spoop arrives and lets things turn out! With the help of their magic, Holly is finally able to show her parents the true spirit of Halloween. Not candy, it’s the joy of expressing yourself, unleashing your imagination and soaring up your creepy side!

Published with Dr. Seuss in rhymes reminiscent of “the night before Christmas,” the nostalgic illustrations in black, white and orange are instantly timeless classics that put Halloween along with other beloved holidays.

Rocasio expressed immeasurable excitement about the project.

“I’m absolutely thrilled beyond words to have a speed. The little Halloween spirit is finally coming out! I was hoping to find out more about these little Halloween spirits.

Illustrator Laurie Conley has been added:

“I was so excited when AJ asked me to draw art for the spoop! It was an honor to bring the story to life with the illustrations. I was able to create each image and draw both the spoop and the main character Holly, who find the happiest to walk around the cemetery!

Spoop: Halloween Little Spirit will be available on September 2, 2025 as a full-color hardcover children’s book (ISBN: 9781603095617) and digitally anywhere the book is for sale. For more information, please visit the TopShelf website.

About the creator

AJ Locascio is an American actor, writer and creator known as Gambit in X-Men ’97, Prince Lotor in Voltron: Legendary Defender, Secrets of Gizmo in Gremlins: Mogwai, Secrets of Various Star Wars Projects, and the Future of Marty McFly: Game: Secrets of Games. AJ’s lifelong obsession with Halloween made him wonder what the Halloween spirit, or spirit, would look like… he began hatching himself: spoop! The tiny clay sculptures quickly became countless new forms, and thousands of small spoops flew out to haunt Halloween obsessions and collectors’ homes around the world, so quickly became countless new forms! Well, finally, their story can be told.

In addition to creating eerie personal art featuring cute ghosts, cemeteries and haunted homes, Laurie A. Conley has been writing books for over 30 years. Her style returns to a bygone era of illustrations for children’s books. That’s why Spoop chose Laurie and drew this story for them. She was last spotted in the Maryland skies and happily carried by a bat.
