Dynamite releases a new nightmare graphic novel before Christmas

Produced by the visionary Tim Burton and directed by Henry Cerick, the nightmare before the nightmare has become a cult classic, a classic of both Christmas and Halloween in homes around the world, and a beloved film that has been universally acclaimed and beloved. There have been many media tie-ins and spin-off projects, but these rarely challenge the comics realm. That’s why Dynamite Entertainment’s brand new graphic novels are so exciting. This June, they will release a graphic novel adaptation for Sheer Show’s spinoff novel Long Live The Pumpkin Queen.

Graphic novel Long Live The Pumpkin Queen offers a unique visual interpretation of the already beloved story for fans. Author Liz Marsham handles the adaptation and distills the novel into a stimulating and unforgettable graphic story. As a writer, Marsham is already a fan and a veteran of Disney’s stories and world library, working on projects such as Disney Princess: Ariel and Sea Wolf. She was joined by an artistic duo of Alessio Petilo and Ismael Canales. Last but not least, comic legend Jill Thompson (Sandman, scary godfather) shows off an unforgettable, beautiful cover.

Marsham said this about the project:

I really enjoyed the opportunity to tackle this compelling story. Shea Ernshaw has written everything I need: a compelling story about iconic characters I’ve loved for decades as a fan, an exciting mix of the environments we know, and a gorgeously described new landscape, charming, deeply connected emotional journeys, and of course, a fun and eerie charm to the Halloween town. It was an honor to help add a new dimension to an already rich story, and the art team did an amazing job of making it all come true

The graphic novel begins after the film, with Sally escapes the dominant clutch of Dr. Finkelstein and marries her true love, Jack. Although Sally is officially the pumpkin queen, just as she loves her skeletal husband and close friends, the imposing general spotlight and weight of her new royal responsibility feels like a new form of captivity. When Sally and the trustworthy Ghost Dog Zero discover a hidden doorway leading to a previously unknown dream town, everything is unlocked and the spool is out of control. As the world clashes, the resulting cascade of calamities puts her new position as the pumpkin queen and the foundations of her world at stake. To save her beloved house and find her place and comfort in it, Sally must summon all the strength in her seams – help with zero – or else the future could become a nightmare without Halloween!

Disney’s Tim Burton’s “Christmas Before Nightmare: Long Live Pumpkin Queen Graphic Novel” features a creepy and affectionate visual for Sally, the franchise’s heartfelt character, exciting new characters and a pivotal story.
