Judging from the cover – 05/28/25 New release•aipt

Every week there’s a real horny that hits the stands of new comics. Readers often know exactly what they are most interested in (they have their pull lists in the reliable hands of comic shops), but they are sometimes told about judging the book by its cover.

Some truly amazing cover art hits every week. These were the ones that caught Colin’s eye for the week of May 28, 2025.

Absolute Mars Manhunter #3

Variants by Riley Rosmo

The book’s absolute stable offers the bounty of incredible covers, not as much as the absolute Martian Manhunter, whose psychedelic nature offers abstract and pop art masterpieces from the great artist’s bevvy. This from artist Riley Rosmo is poppy and miserable, with a scary cross section that makes the aliens hide our human detective.

Proof Edition #1 for the Massive Size Artist in the Fatal Class

Variants by Wes Craig

For my money, few books looked better than the fatal class did for the run of issue 56. Wescraig’s moody, hips and stylized pencils have always felt the symbolism of indie-cool. This artist edition should be a great way to experience this artwork (I won’t lie, but the colors of Lee Loughridge were a big attraction to the original run).

Ferral #13

Variant by Tony Freak

The 13th is a cat. It’s quite obvious.

Harley Quinn #51

Covered Guillem March by Eliza Bestluk and Variant

Two great Harleys of the week cover. A glimpse into her troubled, manic mindscape by Eliza Bestolk is packed with comedy gold. The action portrait by Gillem March will be performed towards Superman Hub Bubu this summer. Both play with certain comic bookies. Dialogue balloons and sound effects, benday dots, exclamation points.

Megaman: Timeline #1

Variant by Huy Dinh

Recently, even video game characters have been getting artwork in stylized negative spaces! Proton has always been my favorite. The Mega Man 3 was constantly spinning in my family’s NES. It’s good to know that he has the lasting power to provide such artwork in 35 years.

Pale Knight #1

Covered by Nick Marinkovic

For some reason, a severe audience of death will be awarded the top mark here in the cover screening. It may be a bit creepy about its appeal, but when the audience in question looks cool like this Marinkovic’s cover, it’s a simple charm to justify. This looks like hyper-rad fantasy nonsense, and I’m hooked on it.

Superman #26

Variant by Marc Aspinall

Again, I know you need to remind you, this is Superman’s summer and we will continue to get the incredible Art Nouveau Masterworks until you absolutely get tired of it. If a character inspiring this kind of icon craft is inspiration, it certainly is modest.
