Delight Punisher fans! Frank Castle returned this September to regain the mantle with Punisher: Red Band. This is the fifth miniseries from the creative team of author Benjamin Percy and artist Julius Ota, who previously collaborated on the recent Helberine series. Polybugs for explicit content, Marvel touts the miniseries as “the most violent in Punisher history.”
Here’s how the publisher explains it:
Iteration and reload, true followers – Frank Castle is back. With no memories, full clips, cravings for anger, his violent answer could only be recorded in the Red Band series! The bullets fly, blood flow, and New York City citizens and criminals fear the Punisher’s name!
Author Benjamin Percy teased what fans could hope for.
“Monsters Fighting Monsters, a keenly vengeful machine, Frank Castle is one of my favourite characters, and Punisher is a series I’ve written for a long time,” Percy shared. “Not only is Frank black, this is a book on red bands. You know what it means. I’m going to lean completely out and push the very limits of my favorite genre: a hairy psychopath. Art.”
In recent years, the character has gained controversy in recent years as his iconic skull logo has been adopted by the Fringe Group. So it wasn’t too surprising in 2023 when Marvel took Frank Castle off the board and introduced him to a new character called Joe Garrison to acquire the mantle. Unfortunately, the characters didn’t notice that their title only lasted four issues. With actor John Bernthal recreating the role of Frank Castle in the recent Daredevil: Disney+ reborn series, it’s no surprise that Marvel will follow suit to bring back the characters that are more familiar to fans.
Punisher: Red Band #1 (5) arrives on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025.
