It’s only two months away from the release of Fantastic Four. This is the first step. Needless to say, the bar is pretty low as attempts to adapt Marvel’s first family didn’t work. In any case, the film’s marketing campaign is already in full swing. When appropriate, the first wave of Funco Fantastic Four: First Step numbers have been revealed today.
As teased in the latest trailer, the birth of Franklin Richards, the child of Mr. Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) and the invisible woman (Vanessa Kirby) become the main plot points. The invisible female Funko figures also include a minifigure of Franklin Richards. It seems like an incredible Jack Jack is in some competition.
The rest of the first wave of these Funco Fantastic Four: the numbers for the first step include Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) Bengrimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Galactus (Ralph Inneson) and his Herald, Shalla-Bal the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). I was somewhat surprised that Harvey was not included in this first wave, but knowing Funko is likely to produce more figures of other characters once the film is released.
It was only a few weeks ago that Funko announced that the $14.99 proposed in July this year would come into effect due to the current tariffs. However, due to a temporary suspension on China’s tariffs, it appears that Funkio fanatics don’t need to worry about limiting themselves to “two dolls” this holiday season.
