A summary of some business news from the week:
Rebellion joins Lunar
This week another publisher declared the moon: Rebellion Publishing, home of 2000 AD, the UK Comics Treasury has signed a non-exclusive agreement with the monthly distribution to distribute directly to the market.
The new partnership means that the rebellion will share a core backlist with the moon’s retailer for the first time over the summer. Ben Smith, the head of the rebellion for film, television and publishing, said of the partnership:
“We look forward to welcoming Rebellion Publishing to The Lunar Family, a name synonymous with high quality storytelling and innovative comics,” said Christina Merkler, co-owner of Lunar Distribution. “This collaboration allows us to expand our products and bring Rebellion’s diverse catalog of graphic novels to our retail accounts. We are committed to supporting creators and publishers who provide compelling stories to comic fans around the world.”
Starting with the June edition of the Lunar catalog, Rebellion Products will be available for shipment by Lunar Retailers in August 2025. This makes it easy for retailers around the world to add Galaxy’s biggest comics to their monthly purchases, and characters that include Dredd, Rogue Trooper, The Trigan Empire and international readings.
The first lineup of available titles include all six volumes of the bestselling bestsellers of the new reader-friendly essential line, including Essential Judge Dread and Essential Judge Anderson, as well as the Eisner Award-winning book “I’m Law.”
Dynamite has not been declared yet
I wrote a summary of Publisher Weekly’s Diamond Bankruptcy News, including a statement from Dynamite’s Nick Barach.
“We had a conversation with each of our leading distributors. We are evaluating options when a new chapter in the comic industry begins, so we will be discussing with the new owners of diamonds.” “We are fortunate to be in a position to work with multiple distribution options in the industry. Given our size, we are fortunate that we don’t need to immediately decide where to distribute our books.” Barrucci added that Dynamite continues to focus on the long-term focus and what’s best for our readers, stores and licensors.
Otherwise, as the title suggests, there are many question marks everywhere about many things.
