Gungara! Fan favorite TMNT character Casey Jones headlines his own miniseries

After releasing details about the new shredder series just a few weeks ago, IDW announced earlier today that fan favorite TMNT vigilantes and allies Casey Jones will praise this September creative team courtesy of Alex Paknadel (Batman: Urban Legend) and artist Amankai Nahlfpan (Green Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan Arrowpan (TMNT: The Last Ronin).

When he first appeared on the issue of Rafael Micro in 1985 from franchise co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, he sports his trademark hockey mask and bad boy attitude. On the pages of IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, he certainly went through quite a journey, including a short stint as a member of the Atoic Tribe. This new series promises not only to pick up from recent developments in the main TMNT book, but also to regain the character to this roots.

He recovered after being filmed within the page of Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreira’s bestselling TMNT continuation series. Vigilante heroes are hitting the streets and doing everything they can to protect the people of New York City, but Raphael and April O’Neill are worried that he is pushing too hard. Things will get worse as new tensions in the mutagenez begin to change the urban landscape, and an all-new, terrifying villain threatens everything Casey believes.

Writer Alex Paknadel teased what comes with the new villain.

“As a strange British kid who once dedicated the lyrics to “Turtle Power” to memory, I feel like my life has gone all round,” joked Paknadel. “The host of IDW and talented creators have deepened and enriched Casey myths over the years, but Amankai and I have contributed to a unique and exciting time. If you have returned Casey to its roots and read the city’s most vulnerable mutants, you are in conflict with the city’s most vulnerable village.”

This is a dream project for Arist Amancay Nahuelpan.

“I’ve been a huge Casey Jones fan ever since I first saw the comics and movies when I first came out. Along with Raphael, they’ve always been my favorite TMNT characters and I’m a huge New York City fan, so I draw anything related to turtles and New York!”

Series editor Dave Wiergos has been added:

“Casey Jones is one of the best characters in the TMNT universe. He is loyal, brave, pure hearted, and as we see in this miniseries… a bit reckless. Alex and Amankai emphasize all the attributes that made Casey all the attributes. The story of the vigilantes and the world of TMNT, you’re going to love our books.”

TMNT: Casey Jones #1 (of the six issues) is on sale on Wednesday, September 10th with the pre-order deadline of Monday, August 4th. In addition to the exciting cover of Niel Pan, the debut issue features an incredibly cool variation by Danny Earls and Mike Henderson, plus black and white variations of Earls’ Cover.
