The character of Better Knonw’s Michael Holt of superhero moniker Mr. Therific is a very good Superman film played by actor Edi Gathegi, and is scheduled to make his big screen debut this July. As filmmaker James Gunn pointed out in an Instagram post, yesterday marked the anniversary of the character’s first appearance in the comics. So it seems pretty appropriate that DC has released a preview of Mr. Therific: Year One.

It includes the first year of the year, arriving on Wednesday, May 28th, with author Al Letson with additional art in the current sequence by Edwin Garmont, colorist Marissa Louise and Letterer Lucas Gattoni, and author Al Letson with art and art.

Here’s how publishers explain the miniseries

The life of the brilliant young inventor Michael Holt was doomed for greatness… but everything stopped when his wife Paula and his unborn baby were killed in a car accident. Holtz once shared an ambitious dream of using technology to help others, but after the tragedy, Michael retreated from society and sold the Holt industry to mystical and crazy tech billionaire Athena Prescott.

The domino effect of Michael’s actions sparked an explosive series of events that took a man less lined up, from the depths of despair to the heights of heroism! Meanwhile, Tertific continues his research on what everything at DC became Darkseid after a special event…and he comes to realize that his past and present may be closely related…

Created by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake, Michael Holt first appeared on the 1997 “Spector #54” page. Holt has also been a regular member of The Gurstific Society, which is the equivalent of The Fantastic Four, which is DC’s equivalent. Atrific is currently running field operations for Justice League Unlimited. Before the Superman film, the characters appear on television, featuring animations such as the Justice League Unlimited Animation Series and live-action Arrow TV shows.

Mr. Gertific: Year One is the first full-length DC work by poet Al Letson, a graduate of the DC Writer’s Workshop. This is Valentine’s Delandro’s latest DC project. Previous works include Black Manta and Cyborg Art Jois, which also features works by artist Edwingalmon.

Letson teased what readers could say:

“I was really focused on bringing Michael’s life to a full-sachet moment,” Mr. Triffy said. “I don’t want to give you too much, but I wanted a story about Mr. Toriffey and the wider DC Universe until the moment when looking back at Michael’s past is necessary to understand the present.”
