Image Comics has released its first detective graphic novel in five years, titled “Knife.” Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, scheduled to be released on August 27th, will play for new graphic novels on television shows that are still in production!

“A few years ago, after my family’s property was looted, someone contacted me to return some of my uncle’s lost possessions, and strangely, I was inspired to be the biggest and greatest crime book ever. “This book is the longest original graphic novel we’ve ever done, and it was a joy to go back to this series and these characters.”

So what is the knife?

Cartoonist Jacob Kurtz travels to Hollywood during the Peak TV era to work on adapting his comic strips, but gets caught up in the life of his aging aunt and the vulture that circulates her fortune. Angie grew up in Underto, but now everything she loves has been taken from her. She is on the street with her vengeance in her mind, her eyes resting on the kingpin of the city. And finally, Tracy Lawless was a special forces home and eventually became a civilian again, but he was in poor health and the city always brought him the worst condition. These three stories collide with a knife and are breathtaking noir stories about greed, ambition, heartbreak and blood connections.

Portland, Oregon 04/30/2025 – Multiple Eisner Award-winning teams Ed Bleubaker and Sean Phillips (reckless, unclean, deadly home) bring new detective graphic novels to the shelf this September from the image comic with Knife.

It’s been nearly five years since fans had the opportunity to enjoy new crime materials. And this highly anticipated new story promises to be the darkest and most ambitious installment of a highly acclaimed modern classic.

Since the news was discovered that the television adaptation of this iconic series was being produced last year, further excitement surrounding the criminals around it has increased. The adaptation stars Charlie Hunnam, Luke Evans and Emilia Clark of A-listers, and the first season of the television show covers the first two-storey arc of the comic book series, the Criminals, Volume 1: Cowards and Criminals, Volume 2: Lawless.

First published in 2007, criminals follow a cast of characters connected through shared criminal history. For readers considering catching up to the crime series, volumes 1-8 are available in “New Edition” trade paperback featuring a new cover design by Philips and a new cover design in the oversized deluxe hardcover edition. They can be found at Comic Book Shop, Independent Book Store, Amazon, Burns & Noble, 1 Million Books, Indigo and Waterstone.

Knife Hardcover (ISBN: 9781534355590, Month Code 0525IM280) is available on Wednesday, August 27th at your local comic book shop, and on Tuesday, September 9th, Amazon, Burns & Noble, Books, Books, Books, Indigo and Waterstones.

Criminals are also available on many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
