The Manga artists’ Co-op has announced the 2025 candidates for the Mini Comics Awards in the categories of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance and Humor.

The judges for the Minicomic Awards 2025 are Barbara Benas, Ashanti Fortson, Gigi Murakami, Cam Marshall, Evan Dahm, Arpad Oke and Madeline McGrane. The awards ceremony will be live streamed to EDT from 7pm to 8pm on May 1, 2025 and will be hosted by Star Prichard.

“The Mini Comics Awards are an annual showcase founded by cartoonists Leslie Hang and Sloan Leon, which lights up the spotlight of unique, challenging and unrecognized short comics. For most cartoonists, minicomics is the form of starting to develop storytelling skills, meaning that they will be able to speak up astoundingly with extraordinary efforts, from genres and various marginalized perspectives.

The cartoonist cooperative is excited to continue this annual tradition! As the organization grows, we have increased the amount of categories three times this year. Now we can further spread the awards. ”

The awards ceremony is part of the Nib & Ink Festival, an online-only comic event throughout May.

“Nib & Ink Festival (or NIF) is an all-new, online-only comic festival that will be held from May 1st to 31st, 2025. NIF has a custom store where exhibitors sell digital comics, printing from home magazines, free curated web comic samplers, and streaming panels throughout the month. Learn more about the comics they read, the medium they love, and connect with like-minded individuals.”
