Marvel reveals six new “Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe” #1 cover •aipt

Announced earlier this month, Marvel Comics revealed six new variant covers for Godzilla to destroy Marvel Universe #5. The five-part series is written by Jerry Duggan with art and written by Javier Garron, who is scheduled to begin its first issue on July 16th.

New York, New York – April 23, 2025 – Godzilla roars into the Marvel Universe thanks to an exciting collaboration between Marvel Comics and the US-based Toho International, a Japanese studio that brought global sense Godzilla to life! Following a series of history-spanning one-shots in which Godzilla fought against various Marvel heroes, King of the Monsters destroys the Marvel universe by author Jerry Duggan and artist Javier Garon. Announced earlier this month, this issue’s 5 event series offers what pop culture showdown fans have been waiting for decades, and you can check out six all-new variant covers from their debut issue, which are on sale today on July 16th.

The new covers include a special foil variant cover by Reinil Francis Yue, an animated variant cover by Sean Galloway, an iconic action figure cover by John Tyler Christopher, and series artist Javier Garon. It also revealed the first of two variant cover programs featured throughout the series. Fan favorite variant cover Fan favorite artists like EJ Su take part in the action, and a phenomenal variant cover depicting the classic Marvel icon as Godzilla, kicking off with a horrifying portrayal of Thing-Zilla!

Godzilla, previously dormant, woke up in anger and began to pave the path of annihilation, as the most powerful heroes of the planet unite and try to stop the fierce rampage! However, when their combined efforts cannot slow down those who have been brought about by destruction, the Earth’s heroes are forced to go to extraordinary lengths to try to defeat Godzilla, including joining forces with the Earth’s most injustice villain! But is this enough for Godzilla to halt straight through Marvel’s universe and into dark dimensions and other areas? What’s more, how is King of the Monster connected to the mysterious metal, Vibranium? What does this mean for Wakanda? Faced with the unstoppable forces of nature, Marvel’s universe must gather together like never before in this Earth-smashing battle for the survival of the Earth.
