There’s another crossover event on the horizon, which is something you don’t want to miss. On August 6, 2025, Archie Andrews and his beloved Riverdale gang will dive directly into a chaotic world of minor threats, a comic series by comedian/writer Patton Oswalt and writer/producer Jordan Blum.
Screen rants were revealed exclusively on Friday, April 11, 2025, Archie Comics’ Next Crossover Event: Archie vs Minor Threat #1, written by Oswalt, Blum and Timmy Hague and drawn by Scott Cobrish. Called “The Magnificent Fusion,” the fourth miniseries combines with the charming small town Archie Americana, a pop culture institution for over 80 years, and the gritty, violent world of threats, a series owned by the creators in 2023.
According to the initial overview of the crossover, the small threat and Archie’s world clash with the Riverdale resident witch Sabrina. In Tonally, the miniseries promises to reflect the dark comedy violence in Oswald and Blum’s minor threat series, becoming “a fish story from a water story” for Archie and his companions. Interestingly, the summary suggests that when the conflict gets heated, not everyone, Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica.
Dark Horse sets the stage for Archie and minor threats in this appetizing preview.
It’s your favorite high school student and you’ve been forced to fight with a villain in your favorite outfit and a story that will last a lasting impact on everyone involved! Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jugiedo and friends are on their way for a field trip when Sabrina’s magical interference lands them in the shady area of Redport, the most villainous of Frankie Folis, Aka Playtime, and her gangster threats. Archie and the others suddenly find themselves drafted on both sides of the war. One thing is certain: blood and milkshakes spilled!
Dark Horse Comics, a publisher of minor threats, promises that Archie vs. minor threats will have a “lasting impact” on everyone involved. So it makes it more than a frivolous non-canon crossover.
Some might view the mix of Archie and a small threat as quirky novelty, but Blum says, “How does that work?” Emotions are essential to the series. He emphasizes that the harsh differences between Archie Comics and his series are at the heart of excitement, presenting unique challenges for creators to find ways to fuse the two worlds together.
He told Screen Runt:
Some of my favorite comic crossovers are what you go to, “How does it work?!” Incidentally, this is a proper response to all Archie’s American teenagers against overseeing the small threat of luck. Born from this likely pairing, a story that dramatically affects Frankie’s journey and the events of super crime for years to come, also explores the dynamics of unique characters that we have never seen before in the current state of the Riverdale gang. This is one of the funniest, most action-packed, most intensely indifferent stories we’ve ever done, something that only exists in the comics medium. Put on a domino’s mask and raise your milkshake… this will be a barn burner!
