Marvel announces that Godzilla will destroy Marvel’s universe

Godzilla destroys the Marvel universe, and sees the legendary monster set his sights on an unprecedented target in this new crossover between Marvel Comics and Toho International. In this year’s series of one-shots, including the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and the Avengers, King of the Monsters is set to take on seemingly all Marvel icons in one major crossover event series when Godzilla destroys the Marvel Universe, which will be released on July 16th.

Written by Gerry Duggan, along with the amazing Javier Garrón Art, known for his work in series such as the eerie X-Men, is known for his acclaimed series such as Fallen in Love with the Road to Hell. The collaboration is reportedly thanks to an exciting partnership between Marvel Comics and Toho International, the US-based subsidiary of Japanese studios that brought global sense Godzilla to the world through film, television and comics. Marvel teases some of the events that appear in the series:

It is packed with shocking moments like a showdown between the ageless Kaiju and the ancient heavens, the terrifying symbiotic bond to the Monster King, and the earthly battle between the Hulk and Godzilla.

Meanwhile, writer Jerry Duggan said this about writing Godzilla comics.

Godzilla was just as important as Marvel Comics grew up. My dad enjoyed watching baseball on TV, so I cheered on Rainout as New York stations run Godzilla movies. When I discovered that Godzilla had appeared in the Marvel universe, I obsessed with all the problems. It’s hard to believe how lucky I am to be in Marvel’s tradition of Godzilla rampage in space.

Finally, artist Javier Garron said this about the work on this series.

It’s a monster opportunity to team up with Jerry again, not only is he one of the best writers in the comic, but the only person who can do justice to this story with his bold, wild, very entertaining and epic scripts. To have the King of Kings relax in the Marvel universe means a lot to me, and that’s what all creators can ask for in the comics!

Check out Godzilla’s Mark Brook’s incredible wraparound cover. Destroy the Marvel universe below, pre-order the series from your local comic shop, and visit our website for more information.
