Marvel Comics revealed that writer Jason Aaron is penning Godzilla vs. Thor #1. On July 2nd, the Marvel hero fighting Godzilla is one of six one-shots. Marvel revealed details surrounding Godzilla vs. Avengers two days ago.

“I have about as many toy Kaiju in my office as the Mjolnirs, but it really says something, so it makes sense to bring two of my favorite characters together for one Titanic clash,” Aaron shared. “Aaron Cooder and I use Godzilla of all-out attacks from a giant monster, one of the cruel and powerful versions of King of the Monster, so expect a huge battle I think would rival some of the most epic and universe slowdowns I’ve ever written as the God of Thunder.”

So what about Godzilla vs. Thor #1?

Round 6: Vs. The God of Thunder!

New York, New York – March 20, 2025 – Godzilla’s rampage across the Marvel Universe begins next week with Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 by Ryan North and John Romita Jr., six one-shots capturing the King’s King against the iconic Marvel Superheroes. Godzilla vs. Oneshot is just the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between Marvel Comics and Toho International, the US-based subsidiary of Japanese studios that will bring global sensation Godzilla to close this July with Godzilla v. Thor #1 by the legendary Thor Scribe Jason Aaron and acclaimed artist Aaron Cooder.

These highly anticipated one-shots, taking place over various periods of both Marvel comics and Godzilla storytelling, spreading over decades as Godzilla fights Marvel’s first family during the Silver Age, is thrown out with the Hulk in the character’s influential “Adventures of the ’70s” and targets black suits of the ’80s black suits’ targets, targeted by the ’80s black suits’ targets. It faces a new Avengers lineup from the 90s and the iconic 2000s of the Earth’s biggest heroes. Then, for the grand finale, Godzilla marches towards the Golden Realm and faces off against the mighty Thor, the only Marvel hero who can take him alone in a single place! Jason Aaron returns his victory to Asgard for a roaring and shaking battle!
