Marvel Comics has announced a new Thunderbolts series entitled “New Thunderbolts*”. That’s right, the new comic series by Sam Humphreys and Ton Lima will win an asterisk, just like the MCU movie to be released on May 2nd. The first issue will fall to the comic shop on June 11th.

The team consists of Black Widow, Eddie Bullock (now the Massacre), Hulk, Namor, Creer, Winter Soldier and Wolverine (Laura Kinney).

“I love all the iterations of Thunderbolts,” Humphries said. “I’m excited to continue the franchise’s proud tradition of hard hit action, powder keg personality and explosive surprises in a new era. This is a gang of seven people, the biggest badass and loose cannons from various corners of Marvel’s universe. Building a super team is like inviting the right combination of guests to a dinner party. So I imagined and accompanied the dangerous, miserable, incredible Marvel dinner party.”

So, what are the new Thunderbolts*?

They are the most dangerous loneliness and anti-heroes in the Marvel universe. They can’t let them work together…But Bucky Burns and Black Widow are trying to give it a try. The replication of Illuminati dementia is threatening the world. If they understand how they work together, they will be as unstoppable as the original. Bucky and Natasha need an alliance who does anything to retrieve the replica, but fighting for a team of murderers and monsters presents their own dangers. Welcome to the new Thunderbolts* – You can survive the experience!

“There’s an explosion working on this book with Mr. Humphreys and his team,” Lima shared. “Look at this lineup…it’s crazy. They’re not here to talk. They jump straight into the action! And that’s the most fun part to draw. None of them are known for taking it easily at work, so I can’t either.”

“Ton is on the plate with blockbuster artwork that really brings justice to the big characters on the team,” Humphries added.

New York, New York – March 12, 2025 – The Thunderbolts, Marvel’s most deadly super team, have evolved and built up a group of reformed villains, dangerous anti-heroes, and deadly mercenaries over the years, and the Avengers and other Marvel heroes don’t. Experience their biggest transformation this June with the new Thunderbolts* by author Sam Humphries (Uncanny X-Force, Green Lanterns) and rising artist Ton Lima (West Coast Avengers, Werewolf By Night).

A new ongoing series begins as Bucky Burns and Black Widow discover a monumental threat to Marvel’s universe and recruit a group of individuals who can’t hold back anything! This is a fundamental lineup that guides a new era of innovativeness for iconic teams. Adopting the highly octane mixed energy, Thunderbolts is known for its wildest limits. The thrilling new title will begin in time for Thunderbolts* at Marvel Studios in theaters on May 2nd.
