Nostalgia is fueled by nostalgia, making a comeback on Kickstarter! CyberPink, creator and author Paropez’s latest comic series, is a blend of Saturday morning comic enjoyment, bold inclusivity and music’s transformational power. It is depicted by the talented Samuel Bermudes (Cosmic Isles Comic, Codename: Valhalla).
Set in the 23rd century, CyberPink explores a world where tensions between humans and robots have reached their breaking point. When a mysterious green vortex involves the girl, prejudice increases and forced a band of all girls to stand up. The Cyberpink girl is a fiercely determined musical group and finds herself at the heart of the conflict after being expelled from an audition to defend her robotic performers. Their only hope is in the hands of Nikki Rat, a promoter with unpredictable motivation.
As band members navigate their struggle, Stacey, working on a forbidden romance with the robot, Eva confronts her identity as an adopted daughter, as she is linked to a distant star, and an inexplicable warning Deciphering the Infinity performance where violent riots explode between one of them. Now they have to escape and find a way to heal the broken society before the disaster strikes.
When it comes to Lopez, CyberPink is more than just a sci-fi adventure. It is a deeply personal project shaped by his own experience in the music industry.
I started singing in a band at age 17 and later pursued music in LA, so the industry’s highs, lows and eccentric characters are close to my heart. I wanted to create a fun and meaningful science fiction universe. Cyberpink is inspired by the Saturday morning cartoons I grew up with. These shows may seem simple by today’s standards, but they had a heart. It felt like you could be friends with the characters.
This leads to Lopez’s ultimate goal, creating a world reminiscent of Star Wars and Harry Potter. The place leaves the audience with a sense of hope despite the conflict.
Comic illustrator Samuel Bermudes brings his own artistic blend to projects influenced by both Japanese and Western styles.
My art is inspired by legends like Katsuhiro Daitomo and Masamune Shirou, and stimulates my love for cyberpunk. At the same time, Marvel artists like Sarah Picelli, Stuart Imonen and Olivier Koipel captivated me during my college days. Our collaboration with Pa Lopez has turned to the world of fashion and music and enriched our approach to storytelling. I want readers to see themselves reflected in their characters, gestures, and interactions across all panels.
Currently, Lopez is bringing his second issue to Kcikstarter! Lopez says:
Question #2 actually kicks the story into high gear as the girls navigate increasingly dangerous situations. Fearing that they are exposed to the Earth’s scandal that sent them to the moon in the first place, they also discover that there are clearly things wrong with this new musical opportunity. This sequence captures exactly what I like about these characters. As always, artist Samuel Bermudez really captures the essence of the various characters, making the jokes even more interesting. He also really brought the vibe of James Bond Villains Rare, a secret facility on the record label.
Fans of science fiction, music and heartfelt storytelling don’t want to miss Cyberpink! The dynamic fusion of adventure, humor and social commentary promises that this comic series will become a standout event of the year. The second issue is scheduled to be released tomorrow ahead of its release. Check out the preview of this comic!
