When the Umbrella Academy TV adaptation arrived on Netflix in 2018, fans meant (or at least we were hoping) that the comic would return from creator Gerard Wayand Gabriel Bá on a more regular schedule. . Unfortunately, there have been no indications of a new Umbrella Academy comic since the release of the third Umbrella Academy miniseries Hotel Oblivion. The Netflix series ended with its fourth season last summer, so fans are wondering about the future of oddball superheroes. Today we finally got the answer.
A variety of exclusively, the miniseries entitled Umbrella Academy: Plan B was published by Dark Horse Comics. The miniseries are co-written by the way, and Bá (also described) is coloured by Dave Stewart and written by Nate Piecos. The first issue features variations from artists such as Fabio Moon, Claire Law, Mike Del Mundo, Duncan Ferredo, David Aja and Jill Thompson.
The following official explanation:
After a massive release of chaos that continued with the city’s biggest enemies and hotel oblivion, the umbrella academy faces the most frightening challenge ever, with other brothers and sisters. Known only as sparrows, they share a different connection with Ir Reginald Hargreaves and Mama. No one knows how to hurt each other more than their family, and this powerful and ruthless chick will not spare the atrocities in favour of their sole purpose, the obedient glare that comes with it.
I teased how the latest chapters were built on previous adventures.
“Telling this story with Gabriel, as it does today, will be a special part of my life. This not only grows as we evolve as artists, but also into a rather crazy adventure together. Because there was an opportunity to do so. Each chapter of this story appears to be formed and combined into its own creatures: a baby screaming in a subway car, and sometimes a large metal bird falling from the sky. ‘Like when I went on this trip with the “Apocalypse Suite.” ”
Describing the long delays in the comic series, Ba explained:
“Comics are our passion, and that’s where we have the complete freedom to tell the story the best way possible. When Netflix began, we were able to “forget the hotel” I made it. We didn’t actually stop working with new materials, but the pandemic was a blow we didn’t expect. It took me a while to get back on my feet and work on new scripts. We loved this comic and helped us get through it. ”
Fans are well aware that despite the lack of source material, the third season of the Netflix series saw a temporary tease of a sparrow at the end of hotel oblivion. Masu. According to Bá:
“Like it happened in every season of the show, they took elements from our original stories and tried to convey that to their own way. They used ideas that we haven’t done yet. But it was different from what we originally intended to be a comic. And in my opinion, that’s the fun of the show. It was very similar, but the same elements were the same. Even if they do, they’re all completely different, so while things may be seen in comics that appeared on the show like Sparrow, readers make our comics very unique. It will immediately remind you of whether you are there and why you love this medium so much.”
Umbrella Academy: Plan B was released on June 11, 2025 and is currently available for pre-order for $4.99.
