Marvel introduces another hellish variant courtesy of Benjamin Percy and Raphaelle Yenko’s continued run at Helberin. First, the story was thematically combining both Wolverine and Ghost Rider (akihiro/daken and bagra-ghul, respectively) into fiery monsters. Now this May Helberin #6, we mix the rebuked rage with the Devil Hellfire and the Hulk of Hell.

Here’s an explanation of what’s coming:

Wolverine’s son Akihiro has recently resurrected and burned a new trail as Helberine through the darkest corners of the Helberine universe. Now, a new demon appears, who needs every ounce to defeat Akihabara’s new powers! It considers one of the comic book’s bitter rivals like hell, as Hellberin is the only person in the way of the violent rampage of the Hulk in Hell!

And here’s what Benjamin Percy said about the new Hulk character of Hell:

“Project Hellfire is a shadow program dedicated to researching and developing hellish science and technology. It stayed deep under the Pentagon at a facility known as Pentane, but their lab discovered something of concern. In isolated pockets around the world, people are forced into murderous rage, threats to themselves and others. Research reveals that common factors combine these cases. It has become the existence of the Hell Hulk, a monster that emits an infectious wave of hell’s powers. A larger pattern has been revealed, and only Hellberin can doubt its meaning, and the world’s devil’s threatening devils. You can stop the plot.”

Percy, who has written Wolverine and Wolverine-related titles for over five years, is one of our long-standing Wolverine writers of our time. Poetic, this new story is a modernisation of the rivalry between the different kinds of Wolverine and the Hulk, so that Wolverine was originally introduced as a character as the incredible Hulk villain in Hulk #80. It is to take on the origins. When asked about creating a new myth for Helberin, Percy said:

“It was a lot of fun building a new myth for Helberin’s Marvel universe. Beneath this is a laboratory, monument, mission, and unique character, and readers can learn about all of this alongside Akihiro. There’s a fiery mashup of Ghost Rider and Wolverine handed over the Hellverine. Now we’re bringing some toys to play with this hot sandbox. This includes his smash. Includes the Hulk of Hell, who has a big story that comes with his debut.”
