It took quite a while, but the Green Lantern Legion is back! The main Green Lantern series has some wild space, which means more breathing chambers are postponed to its larger cast. Main series writer Jeremy Adams and artist Fernando Pasarin are working with Morgan Hampton to bring the legion back to the Space Frontier. AIPT was very fortunate to sit in a chat with authors Adams and Hampton who were talking about the series and expectations. If you haven’t added this series to your pull list, get it as soon as possible as there’s a lot of entertainment waiting.

It was a genius move for Adams and Pasarin to tackle this first issue. This issue is welcome and I don’t feel overwhelmed by the continuity from the current series or from the Green Lantern mythology. Green Lantern was launched by DC Comics’ Dawn of DC Initiative and was a thriving book by the creative team. With the latest destruction spectrum, it makes sense to keep momentum going and launch another “sister series” on DC’s All In. This “all-in” mentality allows you to see the rest of the Green Lantern cast get their deadlines. DC Comics
Adding writer Morgan Hampton is another great victory as the chemistry between him and Adams helps cast this vast lantern. Its chemistry is fully tested, as you can see from the opening scene that crushes longtime villain Canger Law. John Stewart’s headspace is brimming with great and hope as he moves forward in this new adventure. The Justice League has a great homage to it. Parts 1 and 2 of the animated series episodes, “In Blackest Night.” Leadership is required. Jessica Cruz is still the designated head of GLC and is seeing how this will affect her life. Simon Buzz is in her corner for support, so don’t worry that he’s not around. However, seeing Stewart still appearing in an essential mission as a veteran GL, the character brings great justice and makes his light shine.

Use all the lanterns in this issue to keep an eye on Guy Gardner. His antics in the background are hilarious. Fernando Pasarin presents a rich problem with Oclair Albert joining Ink and Arif Priant, creating his own army and showing the alliance of the Green Lantern Legion. This creative team finds a way to give all Earth GLS a problem moment, except for Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner. There is still room for what Sinestro is doing. This will become an interesting situation in future issues. This series is the perfect sum of the creative team having fun together on projects that work well and are ripe for refreshing.

The use of Sinestro is great here as we’ve seen him in this role before, but Hampton and Adams are better at using his role in GLC for Sinestro.
Push you into the world of Green Lanterns and won’t sway with continuity, but a great opener that will enjoy instead
