Welcome to another creepy edition of X-Men on Monday at X-Fans, AIPT!
Yes, X-Men Monday returned to March 2024 to tell us everything about Weapon X-Men, Wolverine’s team from across Multiverse. The original weapon X-Men comes from the imagination that describes the weapon X-Men Saga in great detail in multiple posts on his Substack Newsletter.
Today, the Weapon X-Men #1 is scheduled to be on sale on February 19th, 2025. You can then learn why Wolverine, Cable, Deadpool, Chamber and Thunderbird are all together and whether all of these Marvel Hot Heads can be. We’ll get along well. Of course, there’s more to the weapon X-Men, and Joe is here to break it down. Let’s see what he has to say.

AIPT: Welcome to X-Men Monday and Joe! I wrote X-Men regularly in one of the most important periods in the franchise’s 60-year history. How does it feel to play back again with Marvel mutants in some eras?
Joe Casey: Well, first of all, I check out my Substack Newsletter, which I have a regular entry series called “Recollextions” where I do deep dives, and so on, I’m ordering anyone interested in my past work. , discovering each issue of its execution, along with my insight into work over 20 years from now. Subscribe is free, so we guarantee it’s worth the money. How does it feel to come back… it certainly feels less anxious than in 2001. In the creepy X-Men, I was clearly much younger and still growing as a writer. Well, in the weapons X-Men, I know exactly what I’m doing, so I think the evidence of this is on the page.

AIPT: I’m glad I heard it! For readers, just the first time they’ve learned about the weapon X-Men, what’s the elevator pitch in the series?
Joe: This is the most appropriate answer I can give…and it was in my original pitch document in the series: if they don’t kill each other first, they save the world. This series goes far beyond the usual jurisdiction of a typical X-Books. It is also a larger classic Marvel universe celebration, using the iconic X-Character that normally does not interact with it.
AIPT: Let’s talk about the fatal cast. This is packed with a hot head with a short fuse. What can you tease about inter-team dynamics between Wolverine, Deadpool, Cable, Chamber, and Thunderbirds?
Joe: Now, let’s take a look… Obviously, we’ll start with “Big 3.” Movie star. I’ve written about Wolverine and Cable before. There’s already some familiarity there, so it feels like these two are going home. They are clearly both alphas. This means there can always be a bit of tension between them. But they have also gone through so much separately and together, and realize that if this new team works, they need to be there equally.

Well, when it comes to writing Deadpool, I’ve never done it before – it was truly amazing. As you can imagine, he offers a real “meta” aspect of the series. This provides you can comment on the event just like real Marvel fans are reading the book – just like they’re happening. It gives the story a whole new dimension that really enjoys.
Chamber is a character I always had a certain affinity. That’s why I made him the official X-Man when I wrote Uncanny X-Men that day, and why he’s part of this team now.
And finally, there is Thunderbird, the “Forgotten X-Man.”
AIPT: This week’s first X-Fan question comes from a Chamber dermatologist who was a huge fan of your “Poptopia” and “X-Corp” storyline. The Chamber dermatologist wanted to know what attracted you to the chamber as an X-Man and a character.
Joe: For my money, Chamber is the most visually iconic mutant introduced in the 90s. His power, his impact on his appearance…it represented a mutant who was completely symbolized as a conception of that first post-Chris Claremont era. And for some reason, he appeared to be a difficult character to nail down after Scott Robdell and Chris Bacharo weren’t piloting the ship in Generation X. Let him work. I approached the Uncanny X-Men, but after leaving that gig, no one actually picked up the baton. So I’m back to take another swing with that, in order to make him an iconic character, as I think I deserve.

AIPT: Thunderbird has such a great potential for a character since his return during the Krakoa era, so it’s great to have him picked up for the roster. What is the most exciting aspect of writing this revived, huge sized X-Men icon?
Joe: What’s with regard to Thunderbird is that he’s dead throughout modern X-History. It is a comic book released in 50 years. For me as a writer, it’s the best in both worlds. Because he is both iconic (in his own way) and relatively clean slates. His motivation is clear. He knows painfully he missed the Helba lot. And he is now strong, or he is desperate to prove that he is the hero he feels that he is always intended – he is There is, it all comes to the dramatic head weapon X-Men #5.

aipt: The x-fan duck in a hat said that he was introducing “Wolverine of Mass Destruction” to weapon x-men #2. From Larry Hama’s Wolverine Albert to the Sentinel Zero from the Kracoa era, we saw various incarnations of the “Robot Wolverine.” What makes the Wolverine of Mass Destruction stand out and potentially – more destructive than its previous incarnation?
Joe: What makes the WMDS different is 1) their construction begins and ends with the repurposing of Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton. You are right, we’ve seen it before. These things are actually fueled by the wrath of Wolverine’s patented Berserkers! 2) That they are all, not all, of the arc of the first story. Fatal is an important step towards introducing the ultimate enemy of the X-Men team in question 3 weapon.

AIPT: X-Fan Frankenstaquio was wondering if some of your ideas from the eerie X-Men run like the Church of Man, Stacey X, X-Corps and more would appear in the weapon X-Men .
Joe: You might think that these characters and concepts have juice left in the tank, but the weapon X-Men is to connect to the larger Marvel universe.
AIPT: How have you worked with artist Chris Cross? What kind of visuals will your readers find on the Weapon X-Men page?
Joe: If you’ve seen some of the preview pages floating around, I think his work speaks for itself. The cross is a great combination of classic and modern. And in the Weapon X-Men, he took things to a new level.

AIPT: X-Fan Ian A is a rogue X-Men who never “plays God and discovers your own injustice” in your essay, and you have a number of creepy X-Men runs. I explained about the minor epiphany I had in years. …A fan of comic books. “Did that revelation inform your return to X-Books?
Joe: Not particularly so. But at least the difference between the weapon X-Men from other X-Books is that the mutation conditions are not unique components of the series. It’s certainly there, but it’s not a major factor.
AIPT: Finally, your Sacak newsletter you mentioned earlier is always a must-read, and it’s fun to learn about stories that may have been, like “X-Men: Amazing Adventures.” What is the possibility of over the weapon X-Men to dust off and revamp some of those old ideas that you’ve never seen the light of day?
Joe: I’m the kind of guy who generally “never say” thing, but in the end, that’s not usually for me. I think I have to ask Tom Breboat.
aipt: Good things Tom got his own newsletter – Away Away, X-fans. But on that note, thank you for stopping by X-Men on Monday, Joe!
