I usually know that I use this space to emphasize my favorite books. What I strongly recommend to people for many years, they would be a perennial seller, critical darling, or a strange strange. I love the opportunity to read and write my favorite. This is a little different.
Almost 23 years ago, I read Batman # 608. I don’t particularly like it. This is not the case that it was bad, not suitable for me. Batman -hash, or simply “hash”, came after a few years of books written by Ed Blue Baker and Greg Lucka. It was a complete tone change, and I felt a bit annoying and a bit destructive. And I dropped the title with Batman # 611. Until the Ark was over, I did not return to the book. (Yes, I know the irony of another independent and short run that has been backed by me.)
However, I am involved in many people and cannot deny that it is actually one of the current perennial sellers. I still have the hearts of them.
“Blues. If you want to spend all this time, you didn’t have to try to kill yourself.”
Batman -Jeff Robe, Jim Love, Scott Williams, Alex Sync and Richard Star King are a little mystery. It sets a conspiracy as early as a new enemy and a potential invisible partner, and works to confuse Batman through many intermediaries. He has set up a lot of conflicts throughout his rogue galleries, and is wondering if he can trust the people around him.
In some respects, this is a familiar setup of both Night Fall Crossover and Long Halloween, a tim sale of the previous bat epic of Robe. There are similarities between the theme and the structure, developing a villain, killing one of the suspects, being involved in a mystery, but I feel that comparison is disadvantageous. That comparison is probably one of the reasons I didn’t like it. The long Halloween is driven by the story of Nostalgia, Noir, and Gangstar. This is another one. More action thrillers.
For me, it is not a mystery, but the scene is more centered. We do not focus on the quiet identity. (There is something to build based on the fall of family death and the trust of Batman, but do not start a very important childhood friend retocon that has not been mentioned so far. At least. There was a luxury of insertion because of the zero time to reconstruct the Superman’s book. The first point is FEINT, and the second point is unfortunate. Combining clues, execution, and obvious things is not as satisfying as explosive.
“Tonight … I’m about to become part of that evil …”
What was no problem was that Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sync Rare were quite spectacular. Lee developed into a typical superhero artist from the late 1980s to the 1990s, incorporated such a stylistic base from Neil Adams, sophisticated, poses, and visually interesting. We delivered a very attractive and exaggerated story. His work is a manga equivalent to a big tent pole hit movie.
New killer clocks and huntless hunt costumes have several suspicious designs, but this story is generally good. The interpretation of the costume designed by Catwoman Darwink is wonderful. In addition, cleaning for flashback is very used. This is a reminiscent of a tim sales job. Scott Williams maintains a lot of exercise energy like Lee’s pencil scratches with his ink. Wrinkles, folds, use of Hatch, really inform you of the style.
The art is concluded with the color of Alex Sync Rare. It is a lot of blue and gray, giving many pages a gloomy feeling, which helps to emphasize the villain when they appear. Then, the flashback described above should be made even more with a unique color cleaning. There is a considerable internal narration from the robe represented by the dialog box of the Richard Star King case.
“Very many deceives …”
The sequel will begin about one month in Batman # 158 on March 5, 2025. I’m a little hesitant, but I’m still reading. Especially since then, since then, there are already sequels, so it feels strange to return to the storyline. At first it was Gotham Knights, followed by many stories beyond the title of Paul Dini and Dustinnguen. After more than 20 years, how will it be developed?
Still, I think Loeb, Lee, Williams, Sinclair, and Starkings have succeeded in trying to do it with Batman: Hush. It is a thrilled ride for the overwhelming person of the driven action spectacle, a little mystery, a little romance, and Batman’s rogue gallery. Even Superman for good scale. Although it is a little further under the bonnet, running a little is a wonderful scar of sports with a wonderful glossy. And I don’t think it would be bad to make a bad introduction to Batman a new reader.
