In a fitting announcement from Hellboy publisher Dark Horse Comics, LOS MONSTRUOS, a four-issue 1950s-inspired detective monster/mystery miniseries, will be released in May 2025. is. Written and illustrated by James Robinson (Starman, Welcome to Maynard). Written by Jesús Merino (Wonder Woman, Waller vs. Wildstorm), colored by KJ Diaz (Operation Sunshine: Already Dead, The Ones), with letters by Jim Campbell to tell the story of this monumental monster. will feature four different covers by Tony Harris, Marcos Martin, Ramon Perez, and Dan Panosian.

Check the premise of the story.

Los Monstros, located on the west coast of the United States, is an inhabited city.
Monsters of all kinds from classic folklore and black and white horror
movie. They all just go on with their lives, go about their jobs, do their jobs, and do nothing wrong.
There’s nothing wrong with that. Well, apart from the underworld crooks and gangsters of Los Monstros.
But every city has something like that, right? There are private investigators in every city. Werewolf PI Perry Cutter has a simple case that is quickly turning into a major headache. Initially hired to find an old man’s lost love among the city’s vampire community, Perry soon realizes that things are spiraling out of control, with both vampires and the Egyptian mummy crime syndicate also becoming involved. I noticed that. There, Perry ventures into danger as he searches for answers and uncovers dark secrets about his past as a cop with the Los Monstros Police Department. Will Perry be able to solve the case, put an end to history, and stay alive and on a date with the cute vampire waitress he has a crush on? It will take his skills as a detective and a werewolf to make it happen. There is no doubt that all of your manly abilities will be needed.

Author James Robinson said of writing this work:

“Writing the first chapter of Los Monstros was a great experience for me. First, I got to work with my co-creator Jesus Merino, whose amazing art for this series is a sight to behold. He’s a great person to watch and a lot of fun to collaborate with and exchange ideas with. And the series itself has completely captivated me too. This is just the beginning, with “City of Monsters”. I promise there are many more stories to be told.

Kudos to Los Monstros:

“Los Monstros is James Robinson at his best! It’s a hard-boiled monster wonderland
Full of possibilities. I can’t wait to see what happens next!” — Jeff Lemire (Minor Arcana,
Black Hammer: Spiral City)

“Los Monstros has a lot of elements that I love: detective, noir, and of course…
Monster. Lots of monsters. James Robinson and Jesús Merino bring you a surreal story.
Yet it’s based on a classic theme, so it just feels right. And KJ Diaz’s colors set the tone for everything.
A surprising comforting warmth that defies the genres being mixed together here. ” — J.H.
Williams III (Echolands, Promethea, Batwoman)

“If you’ve ever wondered what would have happened if Raymond Chandler had been the manager,
Even if you read a Universal Monsters book, it probably won’t be as interesting as this one. Robinsons
Pop culture savvy resulted in an unlikely mashup, but somehow it wasn’t.
It makes sense and feels completely natural in his and Merino’s hands. ” — B. Clay
Moore (Hawaiian Dick, Miles to Go)

“For all you fans of old-school pulp adventures, this is the book for you!” — Eric Powell
Goon)

Los Monstruos #1 (of 4) will be available in comic shops on May 7, 2025.
You can pre-order it for $4.99 at your local comic shop.
