Oni Press releases an original graphic novel called SOMA written by Fernando Llor and illustrated by Carles Dalmau. Originally announced in July of this year, this comic features some very unique art with great coloring.
Mr. Rolle is the author of Ojos Grises and Subnormal: Una Historia de Acoso Ascolar, which has been nominated for various awards, including the 2019 José Sanchis Grau Award for Best Spanish Author. I am. SOMA is the author’s debut work in English. Meanwhile, Dalmau designed characters for the hit video game “Cult of the Lamb” and wrote and illustrated his first webcomic, “Lucid Lucy.”
Comic Beat has an exclusive preview ahead of its release in February. You can see the colorful pages below.
This sci-fi adventure graphic novel follows cartoonist Maya as she struggles with a problem that is probably familiar to many in the art world: writer’s block. Maya, constantly stressed by looming headlines and doubting she’s not doing the job she loves, is in a real crisis. But apparently, the universe decided that her life wasn’t difficult enough and put extraterrestrial aliens specifically in her living room. An alien named Soma has a message for Maya. An alien invasion is coming and you need her help to stop it before it’s too late.
SOMA was released on February 25th, contains 288 pages, and costs $24.99.
