Marvel Comics has revealed that Isiah Bradley’s son Josiah X will be returning in Sam Wilson: Captain America #2. The story is written by Evan Narcisse and Greg Pak, with artwork by Eder Messias. In addition to this series, Marvel will celebrate Sam Wilson through a tribute variant cover in 2025.
Christopher Priest and Joe Bennett created Josiah X in the 2003 comic book series The Crew. He is the son of former Captain America Isaiah Bradley. Josiah X embraced his heritage by using the super-soldier powers he inherited from his father to protect his community and shine a light on injustice in America.
“I’ve loved the character Josiah X ever since he first appeared on The Crew in 2003,” Narcisse explained. “As the son of Isaiah Bradley, who was cloned in a secret experiment, he has had a complicated legacy thrust upon him. His story thus far has seen him prepared to exploit him and others on the margins of society. It was shown struggling to find purpose and figure out how to protect the vulnerable in a world where the When we meet him as a shadow soldier in Sam Wilson: Captain America, he’s a hero in the next stage of his evolution, a new codename, a new uniform, and a certain outlook on these existential He’s the one who answered the question. He’s the opposite of Sam in that he’s trying to do the right thing with a completely different attitude. How do we honor the past and hopefully open up a promising future? We’re really excited to have him back.”
The character has a new design thanks to Taurin Clarke.
“When I was asked to do the cover for ‘Sam Wilson: Captain America,’ I saw an opportunity to update some of the characters,” Clark said. “After we got the nod from our amazing editors to update Patriot’s hair, fans on social media immediately started asking questions about Josiah.

“We knew we had a big job ahead of us, so we reflected on Josiah’s position with notes from co-author Evan Narcisse, who provided great insight from the legendary Christopher Priest. We set out to create a design that would be true to his history, but still alive and well in spirit. Although he now operates in the shadows, he was still America’s forgotten super soldier. Being a by-product of the times, the There are elements of Crews’ old costume. Pieces of his old chain mail are under his vest as additional bulletproof protection, and his old bandana is under his Kevlar mask as a reminder of who he is. Evan is Josa Ia said that just as we wear red, white, and blue, we should also wear the colors red, gold, black, and green with pride, so I made sure to incorporate that into my costume as well. I sincerely hope that what we have done will resonate with the fans.”
