Plan your vacation now, because Sony has announced which games will be joining the Playstation Plus games catalog starting in December. The biggest highlight for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra subscribers is Forspoken, an RPG filled with parkour and magic released by Square Enix in 2023. I didn’t expect the PS5 game to quite match the eye-popping visuals of other games like Horizon Forbidden West. We reviewed it and the holidays seem like the perfect time to wander around and try out some spells.
Sonic Frontier has also been added to the catalog for another take on open-world running and jumping. The game combines high-speed platforming with a Breath of the Wild-inspired open world filled with enemies and collectibles. If you’re craving more of a traditional Sonic experience, there are also bespoke challenge levels inspired by past Sonic games.
Both of these games are hopefully good uses of your time, but the two additions that caught my eye the most are A Space for the Unbound and Coffee Talk. did. I’ve basically heard nothing but good things about A Space for the Unbound since it was released in 2023, mostly due to its unique setting of “Rural Indonesia in the late 90s.” Sony says it’s a “slice-of-life adventure game” but includes some supernatural elements for added drama. Coffee Talk has been around since 2020 and has some common cultural DNA, as its developer Toge Productions publishes Unbound and is based in Indonesia. Coffee Talk is a visual novel about running a coffee shop, talking to patrons about their problems and offering them drinks. This is a really fun premise for the game.

Rounding out the new additions to the catalog is a lucky bag containing sequels, racing games, multiplayer puzzle games, and multiple titles to play as Rabbit: Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterflies, Rabbits: Party of Legend, WRC Generations, FIST: Forged in Shadow, Jurassic World Evolution 2, PHOGS, Biped.
If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber and like me, you’re looking to blow the dust off your PSVR 2, Sony is also throwing in Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a virtual reality experience that offers a sample of Star Wars activities in an “immersive” first-person perspective, such as training to become a Jedi, blowing up enemies, and walking with droids. It’s much more cost-effective to “live” Star Wars than to go to Disneyland.
Premium members can enjoy several new games in the classic catalog with common themes from PlayStation’s Mascot Duo, Sly Cooper 2: Band of Thieves, Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. You can also stream it. I’m more of a Ratchet & Clank fan myself, but this is a great opportunity to play the first Jak and Daxter game.
PS Plus Premium and Extra subscribers will be able to play these games starting December 17th. If you’re a premium subscriber to PlayStation Portal, you’ll be able to stream select games directly to your handheld as part of Sony’s cloud streaming beta. Test too.
