Gearheads, rejoice! Forza Motorsport for PC is getting a graphics update on Monday that adds a new realistic lighting system to the game. Nvidia has announced that Ray-Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) will be part of a PC-only upgrade to its Turn 10 driving simulator.
RTGI simulates how light interacts with surfaces in a virtual environment to create more realistic-looking images. According to an Nvidia post, the upgrade for Forza Motorsport on PC “enables you to create more accurate indirect lighting and occlusion across tracks and vehicles in real time, enhancing visual fidelity and realism.” That’s it.
New RTGI lighting applies to all modes, cinematics, and features in Forza Motorsport on PC. To use RTGI lighting after the update is complete, you must turn on RTGI lighting in settings. Nvidia recommends setting “Ray Tracing Quality” to “Full Reflection + RTGI” and selecting a quality level for “RTGI Quality” to enable.
