Overwatch 2 will test 6v6 role queue matches starting December 17th

Overwatch 2’s new season begins next week, and one of the special modes coming in the near future is Return to the Past. For a limited time in Season 14, there will be a 6v6 Role Queue mode, which brings back the original game’s configuration of 2 tanks, 2 damage, and 2 support. This mode will be available from December 17th to January 6th.

Changing teams to five players at Overwatch 2’s launch was one of the most controversial decisions at the time, but we’ve recently heard rumors that Blizzard may be reversing this decision. I did. This season included a complete nostalgic Trip mode that lets you play 6v6 with only the original heroes designed at launch. Yes, back in the days when self-healing Bastion mowed everyone down and Mercy put everything back together with a full team of Rez. Season 14’s approach to 6v6 will be what heroes currently are, with the current balance design fully reflected. Blizzard said in October that it would survey how the community felt about increasing team size and consider whether to increase the presence of six-person teams in live games based on player response.

It’s the perfect time to experiment with different tank playstyles. Because that’s the role of the newest hero joining the game in Season 14. Hazards are spiky punks that deal a lot of damage at close range and can summon thorny walls to crowd control your enemies. . Think of him as a cross between Doomfist and May, complete with a Scottish accent.

The Overwatch X account also teased that there will be another anime crossover next season. After collaborations with Cowboy Bebop and My Hero Academia, the next season will channel elements of Avatar-themed skins. While the omnic monk Zenyatta will apparently be reimagined as Aang, a full line of cosmetics will also be announced on December 17th.

And as a final piece of good news for Overwatch, Blizzard shared that sales of the Pink Mercy charity skin earlier this year raised $12.3 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Well played, everyone.
