Mad Cave acquires rights to SPEED RACER

Mad Cave Studios announced that it has acquired the rights to the iconic 1967 anime series Speed ​​Racer, produced by Tatsunoko Productions and based on the manga by founder Tatsuo Yoshida. This marks the second license that Mad Cave has acquired based on the series created by Yoshida and produced by Tatsunoko, following Gatchaman (also known as Battle of the Planets).

Mari Yamauchi, International Business Director of Tatsunoko Productions, said: “Speed ​​Racer is one of Tatsunoko’s most beloved works, and we are thrilled to partner with Mad Cave Studios to bring new, original stories to fans of all generations. We are very pleased with Mud Cave’s commitment to Gatchaman and look forward to continuing our journey with Speed ​​Racer.”

Mark Irwin, Managing Director of Mud Cave, added: “We are honored to work with Tatsunoko Productions to bring a new Speed ​​Racer story to fans. This is a dream project for us, and one that captures the rich history and timeless charm of these characters. As we explore, we’re excited to deliver new stories that will excite both nostalgic fans and those discovering the world of Speed ​​Racer for the first time.”

Created in 1966, Speed ​​Racer (originally known as Mach Go Go Go in Japan) follows the adventures of Go Mifune, a famous young racer who drives a Mach 5 car designed by his father. his girlfriend Trixie; It became one of the earliest blockbuster anime hits in the United States, aired in syndication upon its debut in Japan, and was recently adapted into an original manga title by NOW Comics. 1980s and early 1990s. Full details of Mad Cave’s plans will be announced at a later date, but the publisher will likely retain the rights to reprint all previous Speed ​​Racer comics, Japanese, American, and other, as well as new titles. Meanwhile, the fifth issue of the publisher’s Gatchaman series is scheduled to be released on November 27th, along with the fourth and final issue of the Galactor spin-off.
