Rogue Prince of Persia, a modern reboot of the classic platformer published by Broderbund in 1989, is still in early access mode, but next week brings a ton of cool-sounding new stuff. Developer Evil Empire posted a blog on the game’s Steam page with information about the new update and premiered a new teaser trailer with some gameplay footage.
The Steam page states that the update “effectively doubles the game’s content since launch.” “Act 2” includes “a ton of narrative polish from Act 2 and Act 1,” plus more biomes, bosses, and enemies. The update also adds “quality of life” features such as multiple save slots and localization for German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish players. The game’s protagonist will also look quite different — rest in peace, Prince of Purple.
The new update will arrive on November 21st. Rogue Prince of Persia was already sophisticated and original in its early stages. It’s been updated quite frequently since it started in Early Access, but next week’s update could be the biggest yet. It’s shaping up to be a nice blend of classic gameplay with new visuals and modern “roguelite” gameplay loops like those seen in other indies like Hades.
